Are you looking for crafty creations, creative confections, and committment to community? Look no further. ●Scroll to the bottom to skip the full review and just read the highlights.●

*I am not paid for or conpensated for any reviews, I simply love the community I live in and want to truly highlight and uplift the local businesses that deserve the hype.

As a big fan of desserts I've been growing my network of preferred sugar providers- and Sugar Pearl (SP) is a top contender for desserts.

One aspect of small/local businesses that I applaud is their involvement and support of the community that is their foundation. SP has been in Cowlitz County for over a decade and they are more than aware of it. They are motivated and thrilled with it. I was informed about community events, a local small business/vendor fair, and other upcoming community support ventures.

The initial visual approach of SP is a visual mixture of pink artsy pop, elizabethan era decor, and a not too overwhelming amount of pink. I was greeted immediately as I stepped through the door. Cookies, cupcakes, brownies, macaroni? Yes!

Have kids? SP has an adorable play kitchen (check the photos!) for the mini-bakers to be. At no point did I get the impression of "you break it you buy it". I would feel comfortable bringing my autistic 4 year old into this store.

On hand, they've got 6 flavors each week beginning on Tuesdays. There are also fresh macarons, giant cookies, brownies, artisan snack boxes, drinks, and other random fun stuff including products from other small businesses (another big plus). I like that the 6 cupcakes flavors are diverse profiles that appeal to different flavor lovers. Chocolate? Berry? Caramel? Fall spice? They had them! I got a variety box of cupcakes to try each flavor combination independently: triple berry filled, fudge filled oreo, salted caramel, spice cake, and a few others that ended up being happily devoured by my kids before I actually had had a chance to try them. Here are the things I noted:

The Pros: The cake was actually moist without being soggy, even with filling! The frosting didnt taste like it came from a can. The berry filling was a deeper flavor; like homemade jelly rather than jelly donut. It was almost too rich for my palette- coming from someone who enjoys a bitterness in my fruity treats.

The cons: I did not have napkins when I tried the berry filled cupcakes. That was a tragic but very worth- it mistake for my hoodie. I didn't get enough cupcakes for my kids. My 10 year old would have liked more frosting and I now have to see if SP sells their frosting.

■■OVERALL REVIEW■■ ●Location: 9/10- located within another building can limit operating hours. ●Accessibility: 8/10, parent building has not been recently ADA updated but is still accessible. ●Atmosphere: 9/10, excellent lighting with full natural lighting, decor is not overwhelming unless you don't like pink, customer area could become lightly crowded with more than a few customers. ●Decor/Theme: 10/10, thoughtful and unique combination of multi-era items that come together wonderfully for a visual treat. ●Cleanliness: 10/10, one of the few bakeries I've been in that did not have any flies or gnats anywhere in the entire estabmishment. ●Kidestablishment. 10/10, having ready and available a pretend play kitchen for the tiny humans was actually pretty impressive. ●Selection: 9/10, on hand selection is a little low to ensure high quality. Pre-orders have a vast variety of options. ●Customer Service: 11/10, attention, effort, kindness, all of it. ●Community Engagement: 10/10, participation in the community, promotion of local events, donations to local markets, and a genuine compassion for the...

I like to share my story about this Company. My husband is very much into World of Warcraft, I called they said they can make it. I place my order and told them just to do something World of Warcraft. This cake was 6 inches and would cost 30 dollars, the young lady I place the order with said she had to charge me 10 dollars extra due to a print I didn't mind. So now the cake ia 40 dollars, I hung w her and after I got off work at 4 I called back to give her my credit card info. No one answered and per the answer machine they closed at 530 it was 4 so I decided to drive from woodland to Longview to pay in person. I show up and they are closed, their winter hours close at 4 which they should state on their machine. Anyways I waited the next day when they called me back and said I would like the linch king be on the cake. I told her you can look it up and see it on Google she said they had no problem, great paid the deposit of 20 dollars. I place this cake on 01/16/2018 picking this cake up on 01/20/2018 at 3:30. Here it is saturday ready to pick up the cake, i go in and they lady behind the counter is all excited about this cake. She turns and faces me and i said am sorry but thats not my cake, thats not what i ordered. She said the world of warcraft cake right and i said yes. She said no this is your cake, I said that dosent look like the linch king and she asked for a picture I told her I had to run back to my car to get my phone by the time I came back she had the image on her phone the same one I was looking at. I said I thought this was going to be a print cake she was very rude and said we don't do that here, thats a Safeway or Wal-Mart thing. I said then why did you charge me 10 dollars extra for a print she said that's me drawing it on print. I said oh well then maybe you should be more clear. She said you owe me 20 dollars more I said no my I just have my deposit back. She said we don't do refunds. It dosent state that anywhere in her business that say that nor dose she tell her customers that when they place a order. I said well am not paying for a cake that isn't what I ask for, she said well we can clear the top and you can take it to Safeway or Wal-Mart. I said no that will just cost me more and am already paying 40. She said well we will just give u a credit in the store, I said ummm no I don't order cakes like this alot. She was very rude and her attuide waa just nasty, I said well I guess you just stole 20 dollars from me and I left. My Sister who is the sweetest person called and spoke to a very nasty young person and then waa told off pretty much, so she went intoday to talk face to face since phones can't show emotions and was treated very rude. And the young lady with the brown hair just wanted to bash my sister and talk down to her. My sister asked to see the cake and they showed it to her and she said yeah that dosent look like the linch king and she said i wouldnt pay for that either. Now I filed a report with the BBB and spoke to my bank about the stolen 20 dollars and I spoke to the police and filed a report. Now am writing my reviews, if you give this company your money you better like it or you will be out of the money. Please ve warned they are not very polite to there customers and they dont make world of warcraft cakes nor do they do...

I paid 85.00 for a cake for my wifes 40 th birthday cake they were nice buy I was very disappointed when I brought cake home..it was very dry fell apart when I cut it ,it looked like it had been somone else's cake that had been sitting for a while and just slapped some stuff on it and that was it..the lfrosting etters looked like my 6 year old did the design. The cake had no flavor i would have been much better off going and grabbing a 5.00 cake at safeway..this cake was ridiculous I was very disappointed I didn't mind paying 85.00 but I had expected the cake to be very good but it wss horrible at best. I am updating my review I don't normally leave reviews but this was a special occasion that I wanted only the best for my wife there customer service was friendly the writing on the cake was bad if I can ill upload pic of it..it looked ok besides the writing but not for how much it cost..also when I cut it I had to serve it in pieces because it was so dry that it crumbled..if that is beautiful to you then we have different opinions..there is not much you can do to make it right the b day party is over. When somone comes to you they put there trust that you are professional and I don't feel like that was a professionally made cake ..I should have gotten cup cakes because I've heard you do awesome cup cakes but you can make anything look pretty but if it doesn't taste the same as it looks..if I wanted just to see a beautiful cake I could of taken picture off the internet and put candles on the picture. Anyway I understand your a small buisness and if someone wants cookies or cup cakes they should definitely call you but if they are looking for a cake I would not recommend your shop, however that is just my opinion..I did uodate the stars as I saw I could give you more stars for customer service and I can't and won't take that away from you..just the fact you take the time to respond shows you do care about your buisness..maby it was just a bad day for whoever made the cake idk everyone can have a bad day . I apologize if you felt offended if you really did put effort into the cake but honestly it's not up to a professional cake bakery level or even amateur if I consider the writing. . I appreciate you taking the...

Delicious Treats & Beautifully Done Desserts! We ordered from The Sugar Pearl Dessert Company for our special event, and we could not have been happier with how everything turned out! The flavor of the cakes and cupcakes was absolutely amazing—moist, rich, and baked to perfection. The frosting deserves a special mention because it was light, flavorful, and not overly sweet, which really made every bite something to savor. The cupcakes were just as impressive as the cake itself, each one decorated beautifully and with so much care. Beyond the desserts, we also really appreciated the creativity and ideas they brought to the table. They listened to what we had in mind, then elevated it with thoughtful suggestions that helped tie everything together. It showed that they truly care about both presentation and taste. Everything was also ready exactly when it was promised, which gave us peace of mind on a busy day. I will mention that communication was a little bit challenging at times—responses weren’t always immediate—but once connected, everything moved along smoothly and the end result was worth it. The friendliness, professionalism, and overall quality of the desserts more than made up for it. We were super happy with the entire experience, and our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious everything was. If you’re looking for desserts that taste just as good as they look, I would highly recommend The Sugar Pearl Dessert Company!

My 3 year old daughter's review, "Very cute and delicious". The buttercream was so fresh and smooth I was very impressed for our impromptu visit on a Wednesday at 1pm with a coupon for a free cupcake, which typically run $2-3 each. We tried the easter bunny cupcake, the marshmallows were so soft in comparison to most bakeries I've visited who have them sitting for who knows how long in the case and have developed the chewy hard texture, these were fantastic and the sprinkles were gorgeous and were not so hard as some of the ones that break your teeth - if you know you know. The cake itself was light, not much taste but very nice texture and the entire cupcake was not overly sweet as I've found in some other locations. The member of staff was very informative of their selection and they offer a great deal of gluten free and vegan options at no extra cost not to mention are willing to work with any cake vision you may have for your special event. Had a lovely chat with the lady there. Also there was a cute little kids kitchen area for them to tinker while you wait or eat a treat. Not cheap, we had a coupon for a free cupcake but it looks like these typically run about $2-3 each, I'll include their price list but worth an occasional visit and with not many specialized bakeries in the area we will be sure to pop back in for future occasions as the quality was something you won't find at your local grocery store.
