I have a homeschool family and have lived in town for 2 years now. We frequented the library before covid. When we heard the library opened back up we were itching to go. We visited yesterday, my kids went to the lower children's level with my husband and I went upstairs. My kids were so excited (now ages 6, 2 and 1); we reminded them its a quiet place but little kids only understand so much. I grabbed my books quickly and went downstairs to checkout and grab the kids. The librarian and assistant there were SO RUDE! I don't think she realized I was with my husband and the kids because as they walked out she rolled her eyes. So unprofessional. My kids have had a hard time adjusting to being cooped up inside due to covid and they were just so excited. Its hard to get a 2 year old to use an "inside voice". Read moreEasily the coolest building in southern WA. I was amazed at how beautiful the building is, it just feels so regal! Aesthetically the vibes are immaculate, and has an almost Kubrick-like feel to it. The librarians were also super friendly, helping me print out some pages for work and then later when my car wouldn’t start they were very helpful with getting me to start it again too. This place is a jewel and must be protected and respected as much. I am overjoyed that folks have access to places like this still, and pray that they continue for many years to come. I will come back to Longview WA again, if only to spend an afternoon reading...
