Have you ever had Afghan food? Real Afghan food--not Persian, not Indian, not Pakistani--but something entirely its own, a cuisine that can't be compared to anything else. Walking into this restaurant feels like stepping into that world. Every plate carries the weight of history, of culture, of recipes passed down for generations.
The flavors hit you immediately. Rich spices, deep aromas, a harmony of tastes that wake up your senses in ways you didn't know food could. The lamb and beef? Cooked to absolute perfection--juicy, tender, seasoned with mastery. I am picky about kabobs, but here, I was simply amazed.
And then... the ice cream. Handmade every single day, with nothing but pure ingredients--no artificial colors, no preservatives, no tricks. Just cream, sugar, and labor. You can taste the hours of care in each bite. It's not just dessert--it's a memory, it's tradition, it's love you can actually feel on your tongue.
But what makes this place unforgettable isn't only the food. It's the authenticity, the heart, the way it transports you to Afghanistan itself--a land of beauty and resilience, a culture that has survived so much yet still pours its soul into what it shares. Here, that soul is shared through food.
This is not just dinner. This is an experience you will carry with you. A reminder that food, when made with love, can be history, culture, and art all at once. If I could leave more than five...
Read moreI came to this restaurant based on the glowing reviews and was genuinely excited to try an authentic Afghan spot opening in the SFV. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to the hype.
Service was extremely slow — we waited about 20 minutes just to receive menus, another 15 minutes before anyone took our order, and then another 20 minutes for the food to arrive. Considering there was only one other family ahead of us, the delay felt excessive.
As for the food:
Mantu: 6/10 – Decent, but lacked depth in flavor.
Potato Bolani: 8/10 – Probably the highlight of the meal.
Kubideh Combo: 4/10 – Dry and under-seasoned.
Chicken Tikka: 8/10 – Nicely cooked, but could use a bit more seasoning.
Overall, the food needs stronger, more authentic flavors, and the service must improve significantly. Based on this visit, I wouldn't recommend the restaurant...
Read moreFound a hair in my food. We told the waitress (who might also be the owner) about it. Her response? "Oh, sorry." Then she carried on nonchalantly. In general, the waitress had zero sense of urgency in serving us, even though there was only one other table with customers that night. She also seemed to "forget" that we ordered the sheer yakh for dessert and we had to remind her after waiting 25 minutes after our entrees were done.
The chicken in our chicken tikka tasted spoiled and slightly sour. The yogurt in our mantu also tasted not fresh. The rest of the food (rice, veggies, and the mantu dumplings aside from the yogurt topping) tasted... safe, I guess.
We really wanted to like this new restaurant since it has an authentic Afghan menu, but won't be returning due to the serious riskiness of their food and the...
