I write for a music and coffee blog called Crooners In Coffeeshops, in which I interview local musicians at local coffeeshops. My writeup reflects the positive experience that I encountered at Alfred Brentwood on our interview date.
The saying “But first, coffee” is taken seriously when it comes to small local franchise Alfred Coffee, and their Brentwood location certainly doesn’t lack in trying to let their customers know that caffeinated goodness is available once they step into their colorfully kooky designed shop. Known for their #10DollarLatte (pretty much a Starbucks sized cup with your choice of significantly better ingredients), they also offer classic coffee and tea options (including a chicory, cacao, dandelion, chamomile blend called “Fake Coffee”) and cold brew, kombucha and matcha available on tap in order to please the many different types of Angelinos and visitors that come through. Fun little fact apart from them having great coffee, Alfred frequently likes to collaborate with other businesses, including famed specialty chocolate company Compartés (in which a shop is within walking distance to Alfred) and hilariously satirical social media account Overheard LA (which included themed coffee sleeves). So, what are you waiting for! Let yourself relish in quirkiness that is...

The ordering process, especially if it's your first time, is currently painful, because of the precautions they have taken (rightfully).
You have three ways to order: install the Alfred Coffee app, but it's ONLY available on iOS use this website to order, which you can scan a barcode for use Postmates to order (from what I understand, Postmates charges you a little extra even if you are picking up)
I am on Android, and don't use Postmates, so had to go the website route. Took about 15+ minutes overall, just to get a cup of coffee and a slice of banana walnut bread.
Positives: very good drip coffee! the person who brings out the orders, was super friendly the banana walnut bread was yummy!
When things are back to normal and ordering is easy again, I'll be...
Read moreThe service there is absolutely the WORST. The staff there is very rude and not providing any help at all. I’m so pissed about my experience there. I ordered a Too Good Too Go online one day ahead. But they cancelled my order only ONE MINUTE before pick-up time when I was already in the store. The staff there didn’t provide any extra things to make it up. They didn’t even apologize and acted like they were doing the totally right thing. They were so rude and didn’t even want to explain to me. It wasted me a lot of time and ruined my day. And the parking there is horrible. Not enough street parking. And their own parking lot is too small and always packed. The path inside the parking lot is too narrow. Me and the other customer’s cars got stuck in the middle and it cost us ten minutes to get out of the place. Absolutely my worst experience in online ordering and in a coffee shop. Never go to this...
