After exploring the major spots in LA, we decided to satisfy our hunger with dinner at Annapurna Cuisine, a pure vegetarian restaurant. Here’s a detailed review of our dining experience: #### Parking and Ambience One of the best parts about Annapurna Cuisine is the free parking available on a first-come, first-served basis. The restaurant has a typical, authentic Indian vegetarian restaurant vibe. With both booth and normal seating areas, the place was bustling when we arrived, indicating its popularity. #### Our Order We ordered a variety of dishes: Hot Chilli Bhaji, Veg Hakka Noodles, Medhu Vada, and Rasmalai. - **Hot Chilli Bhaji**: Surprisingly, the bhaji wasn't too spicy, making it a great option for everyone to try. - **Veg Hakka Noodles**: This dish stole the show. The noodles were exceptionally delicious, enough for two people, and we devoured them quickly. - **Medhu Vada**: If you are a fan of dosas, you should definitely try them here—they are huge and flavorful. Be sure to ask for your preferred spice level. - **Rasmalai**: The dessert was a perfect end to our meal, satisfying our sweet cravings. #### Service and Overall Experience The service was prompt, and all the items came out well-prepared. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the variety of options available. #### Conclusion For pure vegetarians, Annapurna Cuisine is a must-visit. The dishes are tasty, and the overall dining experience is delightful. If we had another day in LA, we would definitely visit again to try more items from their extensive menu. Vegetarian people should give it a shot for sure. You will love it!

I'm giving Annapurna Cuisine 3.5 stars overall because depending on who's cooking, the food merits 3, sometimes 4 stars.

The kitchen is occasionally off regarding taste when it comes to the curries.  One time I had the Thali (assortment of curries) on a weekday and everything tasted the same -- the curries were all slightly sweet and had the same creamy texture with the only difference coming from the color of the sauces.  It looks great in the picture that I took, but can't say that it tasted great. When I mentioned to the cashier that I didn’t enjoy my Thali, he said the buffet on the weekends is better. However, I'm a fan of the Dosas -- rice/lentil thin pancakes and the coconut cilantro chutney. I enjoyed these immensely when I went to Annapurna Cuisine for its Saturday Buffet.  That's what I'll stick to from now on and skip the Thali. It doesn't top my experiences at the vegetarian Udupi Palace up north in Berkeley and Little India in Artesia, but on the Westside, this is the place to visit for Southern Indian style vegetarian cuisine.

Not bad, definitely above average, but I’m not rushing back. The best thing I got was the bread that came with the Channa Masala. It was super light, buttery, kind of sweet and the bottom was crispy which provided it a great bit of texture. The Masala itself was good but it tasted exactly like the Hyderabad Baingan ka Bartha. I will say, both dishes were packed with flavor, it just happened to be the same one. The dosa is impressively large, but is a useless vessel for the dips it comes with. 80% of it is too thin and crispy, think the burnt end of a pancake, to actually carry or complement the dips. It is fun to eat through because it is so large and the bottom is a bit thicker so it can pick up some sauce, but other than that, it’s unremarkable. The Gualb Jamun for dessert tasted like a soggy donut hole. It was fine but I would it order it again. While Annapurna Cuisine is serving up very authentic Indian food, it isn’t close tot he best I’ve had.

If you're seeking an enchanting culinary experience, look no further than Annapurna! This delightful restaurant has woven a magical tapestry of delectable cuisine, welcoming ambiance, and an unparalleled Masala Chai that's simply divine. Nestled in the heart of the city, Annapurna is a true gem that leaves every guest spellbound.

The food at Annapurna is an absolute delight for your taste buds. Their menu offers a wide range of authentic dishes that showcase the rich and diverse flavors of Indian cuisine. From the first bite, it becomes evident that every dish is crafted with love and expertise. The chefs at Annapurna have perfected the art of infusing spices and herbs, resulting in dishes that burst with a harmonious symphony of flavors.

The selection of aromatic curries, tandoori delicacies, a tasty rotis are not only visually appealing but also a culinary adventure in every mouthful. Each dish is presented with precision, and the portions are generous enough to leave even the heartiest appetites completely satisfied.

Now, let's talk about the crown jewel of Annapurna - their Masala Chai. For chai enthusiasts like me, this experience is second to none. Served in traditional clay cups, the Masala Chai at Annapurna boasts a tantalizing blend of aromatic spices and velvety-smooth tea. One sip is enough to transport you to the bustling streets of India, where the authentic flavors awaken your senses and warm your soul. It's a perfect companion to complement the exquisite meal, and I find myself coming back just for this delightful brew.

Of course, an exceptional dining experience is incomplete without impeccable service, and Annapurna exceeds all expectations. The servers, Gopi and Eknath, truly deserve special mention. Not only are they attentive and prompt, but they also go above and beyond to ensure every guest feels like royalty. Their warm smiles and genuine enthusiasm create a personal connection, making you feel like a cherished member of the Annapurna family.

Whether you're dining with friends, family, or a loved one, Annapurna sets the stage for unforgettable memories. Each visit feels like a culinary journey, taking you on an adventure through the heart of India's flavors and traditions.

In conclusion, Annapurna is an extraordinary restaurant that deserves all the praise it receives. The exceptional food, charming ambiance, and the legendary Masala Chai, coupled with the impeccable service provided by Gopi and Eknath, make this dining destination a must-visit for all food enthusiasts and lovers of Indian cuisine. A trip to Annapurna is an experience that will linger in your heart and taste buds long after you leave, and I can't wait to embark on this culinary...

Craving Indian food from Southern India on the westside, Annapurna is your best bet, a value option compared to Mayura.

If you are looking to splurge, Mayura is your best bet, especially for meaty options, but for regular cravings, Annapurna holds its ground and is often considered better for vegetarian fare.

Dosa (savory lentil-rice crispy pancake) is your classic South Indian dish. It's light, delicious and comes with fresh coconut chutney and a tomato based savory curry called Sambar. If you crave something thicker, an uttapam is made using the same batter. You can get it with onion or even with masala (turmeric potato spiced mash).

There are some traditional street foods: Bombay pav bhaji, think a spicy sloppy Joe made from potatoes and spiced veggies served with a toasted buttered Hawaiian bun. This was delicious and spicy.

They also specialize in rava dosa, made with clarified wheat (lighter than flour), however it takes 20 minute to make and is a special order, available on weekdays only. Onion rava dosa is a crowd favorite.

Everything tastes fresh and boy do they add the spice. If you want it less spicy, make sure you ask for that. This is a place that caters to authentic Indian palates and you get the flavors of the sub-continent. An option for the spice allergic is idli (steamed Indian rice dumplings).

Annapurna is priced really well and is kid friendly - think Mickey Mouse dosa (under $9) and mango lassi (under $4).

For a trip to India, without needing to find your passport or jet lagging after a 24 hour trip, Annapurna provides an authentic, satisfying experience.

Tip: Parking lot usually have a spot or two. Tip: Visit the Indian grocery store next door for mangoes, spices and interesting south East Asian...
