Blu jam was a decent enough place but I can't say it wowed me in any way. It was difficult to find a parking spot which I can only assume apparently due to Sherman Oaks wacky parking laws. Why on Earth would you put a do not park sign up in front of nine parking meters?
Our city gets dumber and dumber as it gets bigger and more fragmented.
It is a huge turnoff for me to have them force you to order by phone. Half of the personality of a restaurant is interacting with the people that work there. To cut out table service like that actually goes against what they seem to stand for which is a small town community. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was bustling with patrons and I loved the jazz music playing.
The food was okay but it's not really fair for me to judge since I'm counting the calories these days and I only got two poached eggs and while they were cook perfectly I would have liked to have had a spoon instead of a fork to eat them with but without any waitstaff there wasn't anybody around to really ask and I had to wait to eat my food as it got cold. I ended up asking a busboy. I was also served an English muffin that wasn't toasted or even warm and some cold butter. Not a good combination because the soft muffin tears up when trying to spread the hard butter which is more unsatisfying than I thought it would be.
I did get some blueberry jam which was delicious but there wasn't much more than a thimble full.
I definitely suggest trying the restaurant but my experience was lacking. What I go back? Absolutely.
I feel like whoever owns this restaurant is still living like we're under covid restrictions and trying to maximize profits with small amounts on the menu and less help and yes I realize those few years were hard on restaurants but we've come back to life now...
Bring your waist staff back. They'll charm the place up.
Oh and I find it odd that you would put utensils for two people in a bag because of what I assume are covid restrictions but then they should really be individually bagged.
I had lunch with a work associate who I am not very familiar with and one of us had to touch all the utensils or just drop it all on the table.
Neither is sanitary.
If the BAG was even bigger it would have helped but you could not fit a hand in the bag to manually pick one utensil.
My last gripe is put a spoon in the bag if you're going to serve poached eggs in a...
Read moreI'v been to another location before COVID and it was great but the service was so bad when I came this time that I wouldn't go again. Here are the reasons why I would not go back:
They have a new system where you place your order completed online and if you want it all on the same bill everyone has to use the same phone. I am not the biggest fan of this system but on top of that they are used to the online ordering not working and made sure to tell me when we sat down that if it doesn't work to come to the front and order. So of course the online ordering didn't work twice and I was with a large party and all ordering under one bill so that was confusing enough.
One of the members of my party had an allergy and there was nowhere on the online ordering to note this.
I ended up going to the front to order and there was no one to help me for awhile. Once I was up there the server was quite rude as if I inconvenienced her even though their system did not work in the first place. I could not pull up the menu on my phone since the online ordering wasn't working and she was acting as if I was dumb for not being able the details of several people orders (since some people wanted sour cream on the side etc.) and she did not know either when I asked if a certain menu item came with bread of other sides. The staff clearly isn't knowledgeable of the menu since they have the online ordering system.
The food took around 40-50 minutes to come out which is longer than expected but everything was good but alot of it needed salt.
The crunchy french toast is dry and they have to syrup in house which is really strange for a breakfast/brunch place.
Eggs Benedict was amazing and I can't really fault it. The other people at my table were happy too but needed to add alot of salt to the food.
The overall dining experience was a complete disappointment due to the service alone and that is why I would not come back here. If you are someone who likes to avoid service interactions then this might be the place for you. The food was good but just not worth the price considering the...
Read moreHi kamil, It is with great sadness that I write this. I have been frequenting your restaurants for over two years and most recently the Woodland Hills location. Today I was treated so rudely by one of your managers, Steven, that I had to reach out to you and let you know what happened.
I called in a take out order and when I arrived my schedule changed so I was able to eat it at your restaurant. The person Who had taken my order over the phone said go ahead take a seat anywhere in the restaurant which I did. About 10 minutes later Steven came over to say to me and said in a very condescending and rude voice "next time you come into this restaurant you must check in with the host before you just go ahead and take a seat." he never once identified who he was and asked me what my name was war asked me what happened. As he walked away I said wait a minute your staff told me to sit here and that is why I'm here. He then turned around and said "whatever" and then walked over to the employee that told me to sit here and yelled at him. I at that point felt so embarrassed and treated so poorly that I gathered my things and got everything to go. As I was walking out I saw him and I said you treated me incredibly rude what do you have to say he looked at me and said and said absolutely nothing. Beside him were two other employees who were snickering at me.
What did I do wrong here, did I do something that violated some policy of yours. It just doesn't seem the proper way to treat a customer.
I hope you respond. I do not want to post a bad review on yelp because I really love your restaurants. I just want to make sure that this guy never treats another customer...
