I was at this hotel for about a month, from March 17- April 22, 2016 with my husband and 8 month old baby. This place is centrally located right where the 405 and 101 freeways meet. The front desk is very professional and attentive. It is on Ventura Blvd, so everything is close - grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations. Asaf - the GM - amazed me. With so many rooms, I was surprised he knew what was going on at all times and remembered my name and greeted us every time he saw us. He is very quick to respond to inquiries/issues and so is the rest of staff. Night staff, which was usually just Blake, was also very nice and patient. He was actually the most helpful and understanding and least fake nice of all the employees.
This place has a large heated pool, jacuzzi, gym, and even free laundry machines. It would have received 5 stars from me as being a great hotel to stay in (and I've been in hundreds as an avid traveler), if it weren't for the roof leaking and them having to move me from room to room, and eventually to a dark room with no view of anything, but large air conditioner units ~ kinda depressing). The hotel was full so I had no other option. One more minor issue I had was that housekeeping would put in used toilet paper rolls from other rooms into our room, instead of a new fresh roll every day. Some rooms were undergoing renovations so I could hear some construction, but if you are planning on being gone most of the day it will be no problem. Ask for a room that is renovated. Also, avoid the rooms right in front of the loud ice machines. I was moved rooms a few times, so I know how it is to stay on either side of the hotel. You can't hear the freeway traffic, and can hardly hear street traffic (only if a ferrari decides to rev its engine or screech its tires on Ventura blvd.) Views on both sides are similar.
There is a pricey restaurant in the hotel and it serves Starbucks coffee. The business center is 3 computers and a printer in the lobby, which is good enough. They put out freshly baked cookies in the afternoon at varying times (1-3 pm depending on staff) in the lobby. There is always fruit infused water in the lobby. There is also a mini-convenience store in the lobby that sells detergent, water, and snacks. You have to pay for parking, around $20 a day. When we were there the hotel was full and there were enough parking spaces.
All in all - good...
Read moreWe stayed for 7 nights and had a great experience; I would definitely recommend this location and stay here again! We stayed in the two room suite and I noticed there weren’t a lot of room images so I made it a point to snap a few pictures on our way out early this morning. My favorite part about our stay was the daily housekeeping. This is one of the first places we’ve stayed since covid that did room cleaning daily without having to ask! Check in was quick and easy and all the girls at the front desk were sweet, helpful and professional! The rooms were clean and I was very pleased with the security; although some may find it a bit of a pain, I appreciated that the room key was required for parking deck entry and exit as well as to use the elevator. The location was quiet. They also have on site laundry free for guests, which was wonderful so we didn’t have to travel home as a party of 3 with suitcases full of dirty laundry! There’s a 711 right next door and a CVS a few blocks away for any last minute essentials (or laundry soap!) the also have a nice outdoor sitting area and pool that I would definitely make use of when traveling during warmer months! The location is perfect; you’re within a 20-30 min drive of everything! (Burbank, downtown LA, Hollywood, LAX, etc.) They do offer breakfast service downstairs daily for a fee; the staff in the restaurant was wonderful as well. However, there’s some incredible restaurants within a few blocks distance too; highly recommend Marmalade and the Blue Jam Cafe! The rooms could use some updates (I’ve never been a fan of carpet in hotel rooms but this carpet was visibly clean) BUT they were still very clean and comfortable nevertheless. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the $22 a day parking fee given we were already paying almost 2K for our stay…BUT remember this is California so it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary and I was prepared for the parking fee ahead of time. Would be nice for parking to be included for a long term stay. Overall-this is a great location and overall great value considering the location and all the things within a close vicinity. Thank you to the staff for making our stay...
Read moreWe travel quite a bit to look at museums and art galleries. However, we've never made the trek to LA to see what it had. We decided Sherman Oaks was pretty centrally located for the spots we were going to see on this trip.
The Courtyard Los Angeles Sherman Oaks is a pretty great hotel for price and location. If you are looking for opulence and plan on staying in the hotel most of the day, then this may not be the place. But if you are a tourist, and will be out most of the day with the hotel being used only for eight hours of sleep before going out again to sightsee, then this place is great!
The staff was friendly and polite (Front Desk, Housekeeping). Location was great for getting around LA (didn't even have to get on the crowded 405 to get to the Getty!) Easy enter/exit from (self-parking) covered garage/structure with the hotel room key. The hotel and garage was patrolled by security Room was clean (and we did a fine inspection) Two blocks/walking distance to Sherman Oaks Galleria 7/11 convenience store right across the street. A Whole Foods, Trader Joe's were within easy walking distance
Overall - If you are looking for a comfortable bed for the night and a great location to use as a base for getting around the greater LA area as a tourist for sightseeing (LA, Beverly Hills, Hombly Hills, Brentwood, Century City, Santa Monica Pier, Del Ray, Hollywood, The LACMA, the Getty Villa and Getty Museum, etc) this is a hotel I would highly recommend.
We didn't use the dining, or services other than housekeeping since we spent only about 8 hours each day in the hotel max. We were there to get the most out of sight-seeing the areas listed above. We did use the "regular" internet provided. It worked just fine for us (two phones and a laptop connected) for using Google, Google Maps, Sig Alert, researching our destinations and looking for parking/parking rates in...
