I have been wanting to try out Bob's Big Boy for a while. Years actually!. If memory serves me right Bob's big boy had gone out of business sometime in the 90's. It was a big deal, like you wanted to do something american this was one of them. The old school dining statue was dusted off and so were the memories. The nostalgic eatery that was once lost was resurrected. For the first time in years I went. So my question that I ask myself is "What sets you apart?" what special thing do you do that no one else does. I have asked myself that question in the past and have gotten many great answers through experience. Sometimes it does not get answered. When you come in you walk up to a booth to be seated. A sign greeting you to be patient and someone will seat you. A hard reality of today that even Bob's has trouble finding help. There sign at the front window verifies it, as help is for sure wanted. With in a minute or two we were being escorted to a vacant seating area. Mind you this area was recently cleaned and we got to witness it prior to designating us towards it. Our server was awesome very easy going, and patient to explain any item on the menu, detailed, and communicative on what was ordered. Bravo! Bob's, you got a good person to represent . Leticia made it a delight. We order our drinks which they offer Pepsi, and add cherry flavor. They had other choices like chocolate, and vanilla. I did not feel froggy, so I stuck with cherry pepsi with a orange cream shake. Mom ordered sierra mist. For starters jalapeno poppers and for main, it was the Pastrami burger and Bacon cheeseburger. When we received the food we were taken back by sheer size. (Picture included), but that is much as wow factor went. To focus on one burger we will talk about mine. I took off the crown (top bread)and was greeted with half inch onion that seemed was cut from the onions and put on the burger. As I remove the excess layers I remember the part about ogres and how they have layers. getting past the onion I find myself scaling back on the lettuce as well. Iwas starting to understand why they were so tall. The pastrami was put in the burger like bacon strips. I would not exactly call it a work of art. Once I removed the all the foliage I got to add a bit of mayo, and proceed to enjoy my burger. I it was good. I did not find any part of the burger to be the highlight of what I was trying to enjoy. The fries were good. I added Ketchup and pepper.I did not pay attention to it, but I tend to do that when I find no real flavor difference from a fry. Needless to say, I satisfied. What was served was what i would come to expect at the very least. Not much out of the ordinary other than service, and a good laugh. The milkshake was good, but it did not take me back to any point of childhood to say this is the flavor i had missed. What will bring us back is the service. Which is for sure one thing many places are missing. By the way she was the only one serving. Granted it was not busy. Don't know the whole story, but hope it gets better for Big Boy. A picture is worth a thousand words. A quote ( credit to its respective creator, not me)that hold true to this day. What do the...

I get the Big Boy Combo or Super Big Boy Combo about 90% of the time. For me it's a comforting burger I love to eat. On my last visit I noticed that they started using shoestring fries. The crispiness of the fries complimented the burger perfectly. A slight, yet nice change.
Service was good as usual. The server was a very nice gentleman that remembered my Mom's preferences, which really impressed her. It's always nice to dine at an establishment that remembers you.
EXPERIENCE 3 (Positive)
When I go to Bob's Big Boy I usually get the Original Big Boy Combo, but If I'm really hungry I'll go for a Super Big Boy Combo. The thick patties along with the cheese is hunger satisfying.
On my last visit the service was great. Everything wasn't perfect, but they were quick to fix any issues that came up. Good service isn't about being perfect. It's about taking care of the customer, and making sure they leave satisfied. I was satisfied.

I still love the Original Big Boy Combo. I order it almost every time I'm here, eating it brings back a lot of childhood memories. Another item I love here is the Chili Spaghetti. It's great.
The people have changed over the years. But, no matter who they are, they're always nice, and the service is good.
When I crave some classic American diner food. This is one of the places that comes to mind.

Read moreI AM SOOOOO ANGRY! NEVER go there for a party! A few weeks ago I reserved the "banquet room" listed in the ad at Bob's Big Boy Northridge. It was for my dad's 96th birthday party and he loves their sundaes. She told me how many table cloths to bring and that there was no "banquet room" but that they put up a partition in the back area that would be great for our party of 15-20. I called the restaurant 2 other times, checking, confirming headcount etc. and even rechecked THE DAY BEFORE the party. All was a go. But, last night we arrive, my dad in a wheel chair, the whole group there, presents in hand, decorations ready to set up, guests excited, and, you guessed it, they forgot to reserve us the space and would not re-seat the group that they had assigned to our area. We were shocked and livid! A rude male employee checked to see if the reservation had been written down. It had...in fact he even knew my first and last names without me telling him. We waited, thinking that the people might just be finishing their food, but, no, they were just being served. We had no choice but to leave and as we left my husband told the rude man that we had to leave and the man said, "Well, if we'd known beforehand about it..." Say no more! My husband quickly saw a Handel's Ice Cream parlor a few doors down and they couldn't believe that a 96 year-old was left with no party. They welcomed us into their perfectly wonderful party room and we had delicious sundaes there and were treated royally. The bottom line--Bob's has NOT got their act together in any way!!!! No more...
