YES! This place is legendary.
I had a chance to talk to the owners' nephew/son a bit around lunchtime. Really nice guy, and from a great family. I believe he said they're going to celebrate some 40+ years being open. Cheers to another 40 for sure.
This is a family-owned and operated spot. Everyone in the place is friendly with a smile.
The Food: Magnificent! You can definitely taste the quality of their meat and cheeses. Also, the care they put into the bread is just beyond belief. It's chewy, it's soft, and it has a nice outer texture. I recommend getting your sandwich toasted for sure to bring out more of the flavors in the cheese and meats.
Today I got the turkey and cheese, with all the toppings. Fantastic! You can really tell that the turkey is fresh, has a true old school Deli texture to it, and is definitely A Cut Above any of the other local spots in the area.
Honestly, for the amount of meat and cheese they put on their sandwich, they really do put the other places in the area to shame. Especially for the price! Where else can you get a 13 inch classic sub for 13 bucks? All the other delis in the area charge upwards of $16 for something that doesn't even compare to Dan's.
2 pickle wedges on a Large sandwich. Who else does that? Dan's aims to please.
Parking: can be tricky around lunch time. They're lot on the side of the building holds maybe four or five cars. It's a little bit tricky backing out. You might be better off parking on the street at one of the meters. Call in your order ahead of time, even better!
Atmosphere: If you do decide to sit inside, it's very retro, black and white Checker tables, small little place with a elevated counter to sit at as well closer to the street. But it's definitely a small, packed space. There are a few tables and chairs outside as well.
Simplicity is best, and less is more. You'll have to try this place out for yourself and see how wonderful it truly is. A local gem for sure!
In short, when it comes to sandwich places in the West San Fernando valley, this place...
Read moreIf you know, you know… and if you don’t, get yourself to Dan’s Super Subs. I’ve had my fair share of sandwiches from all the big names—Subway, Jersey Mike’s, you name it, but nothing compares to what Dan is serving up. This place is in a league of its own.
My forever go-to? The legendary #26 Corned Beef, Pastrami & Cheese (served hot). It’s loaded with thin-sliced, premium cuts of lean pastrami and corned beef that are 95% fat-free, yet somehow bursting with rich, savory flavor. Topped with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, a tangy pickle spear, and that crave-worthy Italian sauce—and yes, I always add avocado when I want to level up an already perfect sandwich.
Dan’s doesn’t just do sandwiches, they do works of art. The menu is both extensive and cleverly crafted, with specialty meats like smoked turkey, chicken, ham, and even options for vegetarian and vegan folks. They’ve thought of everyone.
Is it tiny inside? Yes. Is parking a challenge? Definitely. Can it be hard to get through on the phone during peak hours? Absolutely. But guess what? Every bit of that inconvenience vanishes the second you take that first bite. This isn’t just a sub—it’s a full-body flavor experience. Worth. Every. Effort.
The team behind the counter? Hustling like pros in a symphony of speed and precision. I’ve never seen a crew work so hard and so fast. It’s clear they’re proud of what they do, and they should be.
My only wish? That Dan would open another location just a little closer to me, so I could treat myself more often without the battle for metered parking.
Until then, I’ll keep coming back to the mothership. Because when it comes to sandwiches, Dan’s isn’t just...
Read moreAfter everything that has been going on politically, my love for this place has completely died. I was once a strong avid for this local sandwich place, but I have just found out this business supports facism and racism. If you want to go here to support everything that has been going on be my guess. But for those who don’t know, the owners cold-heartedly support this new administration that is ruining millions of lives. I once loved this place, but I am full of shame and disappointment of the owners. You lost one loyal costumer and I hope you keep losing them. (And p.s. the parking does suck)
update: this is not a fake review. i am very much a real person who did visit your restaurant very frequently. you also updated your response. i screenshotted your old one. You can keep coming up with excuses and edit your old responses. But I know what I said previously is true, and you’re still asking me questions claiming I am fake. Keep defending yourself in these petty review comments, instead of addressing the issues that have been countlessly laid upon you and your business. it’s not baseless claims. multiple people have complained about where you stand. you live in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. there is reason why you keep receiving hate and anger. you and your business are going against the very community that supports you, and i hope people reading this will know that you take no accountability and just keep coming up with excuses, claiming people who write bad reviews are fake costumers, and you never ever deny where you...
