I write for a music and coffee blog called Crooners In Coffeeshops, in which I interview local musicians at local coffeeshops. My writeup reflects the positive experience that I encountered at Go Get Em Tiger on our interview date.
Go Get āEm Tiger has come to be known as a beloved L.A coffee chain with roots in many foot traffic heavy neighborhoods. Opened in 2018, the Highland Park location found a home in a cute little small business cul-de-sac style building on the illustrious Figueroa Street, accompanied by Triple Beam Pizza and Highland Park Wine. Sound the alarm! You can get coffee, pizza AND wine in the the same hub!
Anyways, due to sharing a space with other businesses, GGET HPās shop size is a bit smaller than some of their other locations, but thatās not to say that they donāt utilize their space to its fullest potential. A clean color palette of white and their signature light blue paired with luscious green plants hanging from the ceiling and light, warm wood display shelves (which also include plants and coffee making items). Plus, they have a cute indoor patio area for happy customers to enjoy their delicious coffee and healthy noms (if they donāt want pizza of course). All in all, the GGET team has done it again with a lovely location for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood coffee, nice staff. After going there a bunch and tipping every time just for a simple take out drink I noticed today there is also a 7.5% āwellness chargeā.
I get the staff are at added risk for working during covid and should be compensated (although imo I feel is the responsibility of the employer not the customer)⦠it bums me out to see that Iāve been charged an extra 7.5% without my knowledge until I noticed this today, on top of me always tipping for drinks. Itās a bit much and explains why I found the drinks to be more expensive than other places.
Please just be transparent about what youāre charging customers. The way this is charged from my experience is that customers dont see the itemization of what theyāre being charged, theyāre just presented a tipping option once the card is accepted and the ending total. Feels a little...

Itās served in a satisfyingly heavy glass. The milk was perfectly pulled with velvety micro foam. The shot left something to be desired. I forgot to check where their beans are from, but I wasnāt impressed. It tastes very lightly of milk chocolate with a slight tang, but without the accompanying fruitiness I expect with a lighter roast. The finish tasted like old, wet grounds. None of the toffee or nuttiness I like in a darker roast, but also none of the more herbal notes you get from a tangier espresso. Thereās a nice little seating area in the back, but itās better for a brunch date than to work on a screenplay. Solid third wave coffee with hopefully just a bad day on the...
