I can't say many good things about this KFC. The building itself has potential. It is a two story building with the ordering and pick-up counters on the first floor along with a very large kitchen area. The dining room is on the second floor. Unfortunately, the building is in need of maintenance and some new paint. This gives the impression that the building is run down and not very clean. It is certainly in need of a face lift in some areas so "run down" does kinda fit the overall impression. I really have no idea if it isn't all that clean. The need for maintenance gives the impression of unclean. That may just be an impression that is brought on by the lack of proper maintenance but in reality, the restaurant does meet cleanliness standards. But looking around doesn't instill confidence in how clean the building is and you find yourself debating if it is worth the risk. Then there is the food. This is a problem with every KFC anywhere in the world. If you have been alive long enough to remember the 60's & 70's, then you have good memories of KFC and what a treat their chicken once was. That was a long time ago though and KFC has not been special in any way since PepsiCo bought the company and the once vaunted special recipe from Harlan Saunders. Their chicken nowadays is rather bland and has lost the flavor Col. Saunders recipe once delighted our taste buds with. The exception to that is their new saucy nuggets. It isn't good though. You cannot taste the chicken at all with the saucy nuggets. The sauce is over-powering and is all you can taste in a disgusting way. Perhaps my expectations are set too high by childhood memories of juicy chicken coated in a wonderful concoction of 12 herbs and spices. Perhaps, but PepsiCo got that secret recipe when they purchased the company. I remember reading articles of how PepsiCo keeps it safely locked in a vault. Maybe they should take it out and dust it off because what they are trying to sell as KFC chicken is KFC chicken in name only. Not in flavor and quality. I think they already know that though. You cannot mistake what they are serving up these days as anything close to what the chain served up under Harlan Saunders. The food has fallen victim to cost cutting for corporate greed's sake....
Read moreThe food is just like every other KFC - not much is left to chance, you either like it or not. They have a new Spicy Honey Mustard sauce called 'Georgia Gold' - its pretty good. The problem is that they charge extra - a lot extra for it and they don't tell you so, anywhere. They have a 10 Dollar - 10 piece basket, and my receipt showed an extra $4.50 with GG as the designation. I was at the drive through, and in a bit of a hurry, so I only noticed this because of the small amount of change I received for my $20. I told the employee that I was not informed about this - and it is not mentioned on any of the display menus - many featuring the new sauce, and that I was bait and switched. She basically said - too bad. Then, after I arrived back at work, where another person was waiting for the that I ordered and paid for as their lunch, only to discover that it was not in the bag. The next week I went to a different KFC, and I was told that the meal I had just purchased at Store 1 didn't exist. - I then pointed to the sign advertising it and the waitress told me that it was not available with Georgia Gold sauce. I then ordered the same number of pieces in 2 different meals, and she told me it would take her 30 minutes to take it and sauce it and I said I didn't care, I'd wait. She never mentioned the extra charge, so I actually had high hopes that there would no be a charge. The look she gave me when I said I'd wait and the accompanying sigh told me the real story here. She didn't want to take the 5 minutes to put sauce on the meal - it was extra work. It wasn't 30 minutes. I refrained from going to KFC for several years after I was racially discriminated at their location in North Hollywood. I don''t know what their game is - but I am done - I made...
Read moreI do not go to the KFC very often but I decided to go and give the little chicken sandwich a try at the western location since it is close to me. when I got my order and got into my car, I wanted to check my order in the bag. The sandwiches were wrapped like a hamburger packaging and it looked like it was squashed almost like a hot dog shape. It looked so awful, I was really disappointed. The chicken was so small, shaped more like strips with soggy bread and it did not look crispy at all. It looked more like soggy mini buns with soggy breaded chicken strip and nothing like what they advertise. So, i decided to go back and exchange the 2 little sandwiches for 1 regular fried chicken breast. When I got home to eat it, the skin seemed a little crispy but a little on the dry side as if it was over fried or been sitting around for awhile. The meat was very dry and a bit chewy. I really wanted a juicy, moist fried chicken with crispy skin but it was not at all what i got. I don't think I will be going back to this location again for chicken just for gravy. The staffs at this place were not friendly and I felt they don't care about the customers or customer service at all. Not one friendly face or friendly hello or thank you or please...
