I absolutely love this place! I love surprising people when I bring them here โฆโWhat?!? Sushi and Burgers?โ The friend I brought here recently loved the sushi so much he said heโll come visit me more, now that he knows about this. (Uh, thanks?)
Some of the things I like to have people try if they are sushi people are the truffle tempura eel sushi and the escolar sushi. The escolar is inexpensive and I love the creamy rich taste of it, and its hard to find sushi places that have it at all (usually itโs Korean sushi places that will serve it, as its not a traditional Japanese sushi โ which btw, neither is salmon, for those who might turn your nose up at the ideas of having a non-traditional sushi).
If you like the higher end sushi, try their premium sushi dinner for $40. Itโll give you a nice variety of great fish. If you want something to fill you up more, try their combinations. I like the miso black cod, but I think the portions on that are too small.
To sit down, you need to be ordering sushi, but you can also order burgers and such with your sushi. So its great for going out with a group where you have one or two people who do not like sushi. The spicy chicken sandwich is not on the menu, but thatโs popular (you can see a pic of it) in my pics. And my friends have wanted to go back for the King Burger (pastrami AND beef patty), the fish sandwich (of course that would be good) and the philly cheese steak sandwich (ask for it with mushrooms and ranch dressingโฆa short order cook had me do that, and its amazing. The key is to put the ranch in the sandwich. It mingles with the melted cheese and adds such creaminessโฆ.mmmmmm). Of course, sharing the truffle fries is always a nice addition to burgers OR sushiโฆ.
There are also a few different cold sakes to choose from for drinks in addition to beer. And having alcohol options always is good. :)
Park in the back, but there is some street parking. It fills up and the waits can be longโฆ call in if you want to have a large group seating.
So why 4 stars if I like it so much? Because half the time we go here, we end up waiting for an order that they forgot, or they have charged us for something that never came out, or we never get our drinks or have to keep asking for a refill or for water before getting itโฆ so its all service related. Also, Iโโm a stickler for reliable consistency, and when I have ordered burgers I have had some come out fantastic and others come out so dry I couldnโt even eat it. Only once or twice in the 3 years of coming here have I had the sushi not be as good โ but that was for their toro, and I just rarely order that any more from here. Surprisingly the uni is consistant and good. Thatโ usually the one that sushi places have more ups...
ย ย ย Read moreUsed to love Kingโs Burger and the food. Came here tonight to eat with family after not coming in a few years and what can I say we were given horrible service and sadly just a horrible experience. From the moment we walked in I donโt know why exactly but we were treated with immediate disrespect. We were not rude at all and actually very kind considering the way we were treated.
When taking our order the waitress Elizabeth seemed annoyed and then started walking away before taking the last personโs order. She apologized and then wrote the third order down. Somehow about 15 mins later when majority of our order came the last meal didnโt. Finally a nice waitress came to ask if we were waiting on anything. Somehow the last order still did not get added to our ticket. It just seemed a bit too coincidental and like it was done intentionally. They said they would make it right away which then took another 15 mins.
Aside from this we thought one of the burgers was missing avocado and when we brought it to their attention, the cook Victor came out to the table and said he put it in there and he then proceeded to pull the burger bun back to show us (even though we had already checked that it was in there in front of him after he said it was and we told him sorry). I understand he may have cooked the food and touched it while preparing it. However at the point that it is on someoneโs plate in front of them I would never want someone to touch my food like that and I felt so horrible that they were treating us this type of way. He did not have to touch the food at that point and could have kindly said something instead. Everything considered we did not complain to them since we were already treated badly, and their half-hearted apologies were not cutting it. There was no point and they clearly knew we were upset.
I would never treat my customers the way they treated us, especially without any valid reason. It was so uncomfortable by the time everyone got their food that no one could really enjoy the food anymore. Plus the prices have gotten more expensive and portion sizes considerably smaller, and some of the food is not as good as it used...
ย ย ย Read moreI have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for months and have never had an issueโuntil now. Unfortunately, I had a very serious and distressing experience that I feel obligated to share.
I informed the staff of my mushroom allergy, which is life-threatening and requires me to carry an EpiPen at all times. Despite clearly stating this, mushrooms were still put in my food. I took a bite before noticing, and immediately began experiencing a reaction. Thankfully, I recognized the symptoms early and was able to take medication in time to avoid the worst. But I did have a reaction and have been dealing with the aftermath since.
What made this situation even worse was the complete lack of accountability or empathy from the management. When I called to inform them, the manager showed no compassion, no apology, and no real concern for my health. Her only response was, โWeโll be more careful next time.โ No offer of a refund. No request for my information. No follow-up. That kind of response to a potentially fatal mistake is completely unacceptable.
This wasnโt just a small oversightโit was a dangerous failure to take a serious allergy seriously. Allergies are not a preference. They can be deadly, and this experience has left me shaken and extremely disappointed in a place I used to trust.
I sincerely hope this restaurant takes immediate steps to improve its allergy protocols and staff training. A simple apology and the right response could have gone a long way. Until then, I will not be returningโand I urge anyone with food allergies to be...
