LA SUSHI CO — Restaurant in Los Angeles

It’s solid. Some of the best takeout sushi I’ve ever had. Right up there with Yama Sushi in Mar Vista and way better than Sugarfish, NowazaBar or KazuNori.

Their marketing game is a bit much though. The blue and white fancy bag, the napkins, the chopsticks, the bag that holds the chopsticks, the fancy containers, all of which have LA Sushi Co branding… I get it, but to me it’s just fluff for their boogie Brentwood clientele. Normal plastic bags and containers like they have at every other takeout sushi restaurant are perfectly sufficient. Keep it causal. Branding and fancy packaging adds nothing. First impression - incredibly expensive. I was in disbelief I just paid a kiosk (you order on a tablet) $60 for lunch, including a service fee. It’s an expensive piece of real estate and the cost of labor is high, got it. But there’s no table service or dine in option so pretty steep.

The sushi itself is fine, not good not bad but wouldn’t be something I’ll have again. If I’m in a quick pinch I’ll opt for the Whole Foods sushi next door and save $40.

I really wanted to like this place and saw it under construction for several months! But it’s going to be hard when Sugarfish is just down the street and you can get a Nozawa Trust Me for $49, coursed...

I decided to try this place because it’s new and near where I live. It was REALLY good and it will definitely be a part of our family’s regular rotation. I’m a huge fan of sushi and sometimes reluctant to get take-out but this place NAILED IT. I’m so glad this place exists. The sushi here is phenomenal. Top grade quality and really beautiful presentation. My family loved it and we look forward to ordering from here again...
