Found this place from an ad on IG. Place is located in a rather sus location and the parking is a bit tricky. We pulled up and almost had a second thought because the location and upon entry, the place is tiny. We were a party of 8 and there was already 2 large parties which left about 4 smaller tables, which were full. They took down my name and number and were able to accommodate us in about 35 minutes. One thing I did not like, there is no pricing anywhere. They have a list on screens and menus they put down but no prices. I looked at the prices once I went to their website and clicked on the "To-go" option. We ordered mojarras, seafood molcajete, mixed ceviche, ceviche stuffed avocado, oyster shooters, and stuffed lobster. It was all delicious. I am not big on onion so I picked out the bigger pieces from the ceviche (comes with tostadad) but the onions were not to strong. The lobster had lots of meat (a tad dry) but the toppings were buttery and cheesy. It comes with tortillas so you can make little taco bites. Comes with rice, salad, and fries. The mojarra was a bit over fried but it was really good. We got 2 and they didn't stand a chance. Also come with tortillas and rice. The molcajete comes with bacon wrapped shrimp, 2 octopus tentacles, a whole snapper, and more shrimp in a spicy salsa bottom. The octopus was soft and perfectly cooked. Comes with rice and beans. The oyster shooters were really good, although the oysters were tiny inside the shot glass. They are $5 each or you can get the half-dozen for a discount. Again, no prices anywhere. All in all, definitely...
Read moreI found this place on instagram and it looked convincing because of the following and presentation they give however when i went it was like a hole in the wall, I had a really bad experience, I ordered a Puerto Nuevo lobster, in hopes that it was going to be A PUERTO NUEVO LOBSTER, deep fried with garlic, like Ive had them In Puerto Nuevo, but no what I got in return was an experiment, bland no seasoning lobster that was a waste because by the looks of it it was boiled and then grilled to give it a fried look, the food has no taste, the butter they served was chopped with garlic cloves that sank at the bottom of the container, the butter didn’t seem like butter but more like oil with minced garlic , it was a hot mess. I only ate the beans and tortillas and 2 bites of the lobster, my partner got the grilled octopus and they didn’t give him what they presented on instagram instead they gave him a tentacle soup but instead of water it was drowned in oil with big squares of garlic, the skin of the tentacles was coming off so it all looked white, they were closing the kitchen so I believe everything was rushed. I showed the waitress the plate she served and what I wanted and she agreed that they messed up and they offered another plate however the flavor was not there. I paid $132 plus tips, very expensive for the presentation they give and quality, this is not Javier’s or Mastros, Disgusting food, you’re better off going to mastros,...
Read moreMariscos Corona is fabulous! The ceviche is outstanding.
Mariscos Corona is a family business. The father Antonio needed help and his son Joel rose to the occasion. Joel used to work for Sparklets. He gave his resignation, cashed all his holdings and went in with his father.
Joel did not have much experience and is now head Chef at Mariscos Corona. I can see a lot of unique dishes all over the restaurant. Joel uses Bass for the ceviche. That takes a way a lot of the fishy small and taste associated with ceviche. Trust me. It makes a huge difference in the taste.
I went in on a Tuesday at 3pm. Every table was full and the pick-up to go bags were getting ready to go. The salsa and chips and excellent. I got my Ceviche tostadas and with a Jamaica water. Look at my photos. The Ceviche Tostadas were delicious. The bass really makes it. Great job Joel.
The crew is very welcoming and friendly. There are so many options of seafood available that I was surprised. I kept on watching dish and dish being served to all the people around me. They all looked and smelled great.
Mariscos Corona is a true American success story that I loved to...
