Literally the best bakery ever!! Make sure to read this all the way through.
I have been a customer of this bakery since 30 years ago. My first cake ever from here was when I was three years old, and I still remember the nostalgia of the taste of this bakeryās cakes! When their Hollywood location closed, I thought they were gone forever. I was heartbroken, and couldnāt find them for 12 years! Then, I was talking about cakes with a friend, and she told me that they have another location in Van Nuys, and I cannot explain how happy I was!
It has been 5 years now that I have bought cakes from their Van Nuys location, and it felt like a part of my past travelled back to the present! Their recipe hasnāt changed, and neither has their quality. They have not cut any corners in making their signatures!
Recently, we were going to celebrate my momās birthday, and I left the responsibility to order the cake to another family member. long story short, they forgot to order the birthday cake, and they tell me only 1 hour before momās birthday party. Frustrated, and hoping for a miracle, I called Mey Fung Bakery and spoke to Selina. I explained the situation, and understood that cakes need days in advance to prepare orders, and asked her if there was any way that she can make the impossible possible. (My momās favorite cake filling is their fruit cocktail, considering she is allergic to strawberries). Selina, knowing Iām a faithful customer, said that she will have my momās birthday cake ready in 30 minutes! My jaw hit the floor! I was so thankful that I was treated with understanding, empathy, and world-class customer service!
I have, and always will recommend this bakery to EVERYONE! Their cakes are simply heavenly! The cake dough is so light and fluffy, and their cream is so light, you almost donāt feel guilty taking seconds!
Trust me, I know quality, and this is it. Quality partnered with world-class customer service is the winner for me.
Great Job Mey Fung Bakery! Continue being a pillar bakery in our community, and never change a thing about...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe LOVE this bakery! My husband and I were adamantly in the search for the fluffy, strawberry, Asian cake for our wedding in June 2021 and had such a hard time finding an Asian bakery near the Camarillo, CA area. We tried several non-Asian wedding bakeries in the Camarillo area and they were terrible⦠the cakes all tasted dry, and the buttercream was extremely sweet, and none of the bakers we spoke to were open to the idea of adjusting their recipe to something less sweet. They kept saying they had to use buttercream instead of whipped cream (that the Asian strawberry cake has) because the whipped cream would melt⦠which is not true. We learned that a lot of these wedding bakeries use buttercream because they can make your cake 2-3 days before the wedding, it holds, and itās easier to decorate. So you end up getting a fancy looking cake that is not fresh.
Thankfully though, my friend found Mey Fung Bakery! This was the closest Asian bakery to Camarillo, and the owner was SO nice to deliver it to our wedding venue, on time, for a very reasonable fee. The price of the cake was 1/3 of what the other bakeries in Camarillo had quoted us. The cake was delicious, moist, fluffy, with fresh strawberries. We had an outdoor wedding, and to make things clear, the whipped cream did not melt at all. The cake was placed outdoors, not directly under the sun, and it stayed there from 5pm-9pm when we cut the cake. Our guests LOVED the cake and had nothing but positives things to say about it! Thank you so much for making...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery affordable local bakery that specializes in whole cakes and special orders. They didn't have much available in individual servings when I went. Staff is super helpful.
The ultimate test for any Asian bakery is the strawberry cream/short cake ($2.50/slice). They have the texture and light sweetness down but there were no strawberries inside the cake at all, only half of one on top. There wasn't even a layer of whipped cream between the two layers of cake. It's covered in toasted almonds which makes it heavier. Without any fruit it just tasted like a well-made but very boring plain cake. Really disappointing. I wish they'd raise the price and make it with the traditional layer of strawberries & whipped cream. The cream puff ($2) shell was dry and hard. It's filled with whipped cream instead of custard or pastry cream like Asian cream puffs. On the other hand, the fruit tarts (less than $5) were really good -- they don't skimp on the fruit here.
Overall, doesn't really hit the spot for "Asian bakery" cravings but there aren't many options in the valley besides chains like 85°C, Tous les Jours, or the 99 Ranch in-store bakery. Mey Fung would be a solid choice for birthday parties/events so 4 stars for that, supporting small family businesses, and value for how...
