I was recommended this place by a close friend of mine. Its situated right on the corner off of western ave in koreatown. It is in a corner business complex with several other korea bbq however this one seemed the most popular. As a person that travels throughout the city and outside of the city eating a lot of different restaurants hiking trekking jogging and a distance Runner I'm always looking for food Alternatives from quick fried junk. Ambiance in the restaurant was good I sat in the back table there's lots of tables available. The decor and music were nice and diverse.it was my first time eating there so the lady had to come and show me how to light the oven when she lit the oven and lay down the grill they bring a big chunk of looks like salted pork so you can grease up the grill and then you order your meat it's 26.99 for a single person the appetizers the soups and the meats are all you can eat at that price there's no take out menu now the parking is a little bit tight you might have to part of the street or around the street or on the street especially if you have reserved a table I went around 5 in the evening as I left that's in the restaurant really starting to pick up so I imagine the wait times between 7 and closing are pretty lengthy the food was great I had fried dumplings Asahi beer I had to shrimp spicy chicken and brisket. the brisket sauce is great it comes with jalapenos and onions inside. the Asahi beer was nice and cold however the steam from the table warms the beer up really quick so you might want to drink pretty quick if you want a cold beer after the first round of meat cook the lady has to come and change the grill top because it gets pretty dirty nice ice cold water in silver pictures the wait staff was really cool I give it 4 stars and I...
Read moreOver all 7.5/10 experience. I will not be returning. You get what you pay for. B health rating. Not esthetically pleasing but inexpensive, quick service and ayce.
Staff friendliness and service 10/10. They are all extremely attentive and clear any dishes and replenish your request rapidly. They were the best part of the visit. I just don't know how often they change their gloves between setting tables and carrying food and drinks around.
Ambiance 7/10. It was outdoors so there was a nice amount of space between tables. However due to the outdoor setting flies were an issue, tables were not firm. The grill was too close to eye level and crowded a table for 2.
Pros: inexpensive, valet parking available for $3 and quick friendly service. Cool sides you don't find everywhere. Lots of residential parking available. Short wait times. They offer beer, soju, and pitchers on tap of blue moon or bottled "pitchers" of 2 other beers.
Cons: Marinate was very sudden, almost bland. Quality of meat was lacking. Saw a staff member wipe off stuff from a chair then set the table with the same dirty gloves. No he didn't use a rag just his hand to clean off the chair. Sides lacked flavor too, they looked like they'd been sitting out, none felt cold not even the macaroni salad. The interior of the restaurant didn't look especially clean. On the way to the bathroom the wall leading to the kitchen looked extremely dirty. In the men's room there was a cardboard box under the urinal. Women's bathroom was stocked and clean but still felt like it needed improvements. Due to open doors lots of flies inside and by the...
Read moreMeat Love is a really solid Korean BBQ restaurant here in LA. I will first mention why only 4 stars.
First, seating is only outside in a tent. This is not good for a variety of reasons. The grill is elevated on a small burner on the side of the round table. This makes it hard to access, but what is worse is that the splattering oil will hit you and burn due to the height elevation and wind.
Second, staff aren’t as attentive as I would prefer. You have to really hunt them down to order more meats or side dishes.
Third, they intentionally give you a ton of the meats you order up front, causing you to get full fast and not get to try other meats.
The good parts about this restaurant is that the meats are delicious and fresh.
The best meats of the night were the beef brisket and smoky beef belly. These super thin cut meats had so much flavor and melted in your mouth.
The pork belly was ok. Definitely chewy and Not that fatty. It was fine but nothing like I have had elsewhere.
The marinated pork ribs were pretty good. Tons of flavor, but the quantity was too much for one order.
They had good side dishes of rice, radish wraps, spicy cucumber, macaroni salad, bean sprouts, and fish cakes. These were all delicious and bountiful.
They brought out some fermented radish, but this was so fermented that it began tasting like wine which was not good.
Sauces included a standard sweet soy sauce, a spicy sambal, and the coveted salt and sesame oil.
Overall, we all had a good experience, and at a price of just $24, it’s a great value. They DO include 15% tip when they bring out the bill,...
