MeloMelo Coconut Dessert — Restaurant in Los Angeles

The Baseline: For a desert shop the flavor of offerings must out-weigh the taste of pure sugar, there must be unique/rare offerings that drive me to go there, and the value of the desert must be balanced with the fact I probably just finished a meal.

Food: This is a coconut based dessert shop with a bunch of different flavor combinations. I got the ube (tasty) and the durian (for my wife and will never touch durian again). The desserts come in glass lid containers so you don’t need to get a to go box. The packaging makes a nice presentation for the dessert.

Service: I had great service and staff was really helpful in picking out my desert..

Ambiance: The seating situation has indoor and outdoor. The desert shop is nicely decorated and has a nice upscale vibe to it.

you may get sucked in by free samples, but you'll end up making a purchase because the coconut jelly is genuinely good. these aren't as cheap as some SGV dessert spots, but you're paying for the quality and the packaging.

overall taste: reminiscent of silken tofu pudding from my asian childhood personally the fillings are a nice-to-have, i enjoy just the coconut jelly on its own not too sweet, always very refrigerated and refreshing i've tried the triple latte, ube, taro coconut, and peach gum. peach is my favorite, but all are solid

vibe: really nice quality jars and bags these make GREAT gifts, but are perishable so be careful!

service: extremely friendly and attentive cards / wireless payment accepted plenty of outdoor and indoor seating when i went on a friday afternoon

My wife love love Melo Melo, our 1st time here on Sawtelle and will be our last. Hard to find parking, customer is not friendly. We got 4 items on Thursday night, 2 mangos and 2 durians. We enjoyed very much, same taste every time amazing dessert. We like to eat our starting from the top and work our way down, get the filling last. One of the durian have a sour taste at the end. Call the store, they told us bring the glass jars / receipts and will get exchange, at the arrival time. They said is Not their policy to get refund or exchange for emptied jars. I notice all their jars have no safety seals around the jar, some are loose and other are too tight. There are no safety measures and no policy inside the store or on printed sale receipts. I would think twice before coming back...
