Menchita's — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Went with my Salvadorian friend of mines to this place last night, just to check it out since it's near by the neighborhood. Ooohh, don't know why I was expecting a bit of cleaner and we'll maintain environment. So please don't expect no fine dining here.

The pupusas were amazing, especially the Salvadorian queso & shrimp. The food is good, but one thing did trouble my friend. We both ordered the Horchata and he didn't like it one bit, I can also see why he didn't like it. Something about the cups and the way it was made did not satisfied our taste. The cups need to be washed better. You can smell the spit, breath or something of another person who's used it last. Woah, gross!

Furthermore, the music and the atmosphere isn't bad at all. Just prepare yourself to speak up very loud to the one your sitting with, because the music can be a bit high volume....

Im in the middle with this place. Ive gotten good food but once they charged me for something different and much more than what i had ordered, if i wouldn't have noticed, i would have over paid. 2 even though ive gotten good food, my brother and brother in law ordered two sopas de res and my god was it undercooked and the worst cut of meat (it was mostly all fat). I asked one of them to call and complain and all he said was "no, the cook knew exactly what they where serving. They where both so upset that they wont be going back" I must admit that i was a little embarrassed that i suggested the place. I am salvadorean and for the most part we make these dishes at home but sometimes it's good to support, even more if they are local. My recommendation is, always try...

Food 10|10 can't complain about it. Really bad ambiance since there's not music, tables are too close from each other. Service was my thing. I leave three stars because a Beautiful, green hair young woman came to check on us, she saved the whole experience. But The person who originally took our order should take some customer service course since that was very bad. No smiling, no good manners and to top it off not even an "Enjoy your Meal" after she dropped it. I didn't appreciate that. If you come here, expect to be treated like a thing and not like someone. I am not coming...
