NISHI Poke Sushi Roll — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I have been a frequent customer of this restaurant since it opened. I truly hate having to write this review, but unfortunately, my experience with their customer service was so disappointing that I am forced to do so.

Last April I placed a rather large order through Uber Eats that I picked up in person. When I returned home, I realized that some items were missing (the cost of those items was $28.48).

I called the restaurant and they confirmed that they had not packed the items. Going back to the restaurant was not an option for me, so they told me to keep the receipt and that they would give me those items at no cost for any future order.

After about a month, I called the restaurant to place a new order. Over the phone, I was told that they would indeed add those items. But after driving to the restaurant to pick up the order, they changed their mind. The restaurant would now take no responsibility. They told me to complain to Uber Eats and dismissed me rather harshly.

I approached Uber Eats and, as I expected, they wouldn’t take any adjustment requests past 48 hours of the original order. Their recommendation was for me to leave a negative review, in their words “to help the merchant improve”.

As I mentioned, I really liked this restaurant and wanted to give them every chance to make things right. So I contacted them via email explaining the situation again. I never heard back from them.

I would have received my refund if they had just told me to contact Uber Eats when I first approached them. And then, rather than owning their mistake and finding a way to make things right, they dismissed me without the slightest concern.

I guess to them $28.50 is more important than a repeat customer and a good reputation. As frustrating as it is, I will never come back to this place again.

(The time between the orders was certainly not more than a month, since they were for two birthdays that are one...

Great service, great poke bowls all fresh fish and ingredients with many topping options, super friendly staff and owner with fast service! Very clean and neat poke shop. The fish was fresh both times visited at 5-6pm and another visit 3-4pm but owner said fresh fish all day long! We've been here a couple times and will continue to drop by for some delicious poke bowls on the go. Regular size (3 fish protien choices) custom made bowls made the way you want is the way to go for a filling meal. Go big with the large usually will have left overs for a snack later. Hawaiian salmon/tuna choices were great or keep it clean with no marinade. We're usually passing through coming back from Cedars Sinai medical center and hungry needing a healthy late afternoon lunch option. Just wanted to give an exceptional shout out to the funny and extremely nice latina server on our first visit who was really informative and helpful building our bowls. She really gave us a great 1st impression to come back for a 2nd visit, (she needs a bonus lol!). Upon 2nd visit also met the owner Steve and was super cool, nice and informative about fish and toppings. Don't listen to the one star review, I think they got the wrong Nishi, and this is Nishi...

June 2021: Today, I hesitatingly placed a large order with Nishi on La Cienega today, despite a previous experience with them. Steve recognized my name/order and called me to verify if they should add crabmeat to all the bowls. Lesson: just check off crabmeat even if it's in the description! Steve did a great job with service recovery. I have renewed faith that they care about their customer. Thank you, Steve and staff, for a perfectly delivered order today!

March 2021: Ordered 7 meals, include 2 KOA Bowls (Large. Hawaiian salmon, Hawaiian tuna, spicy tuna, albacore tuna, crabmeat, sesame oil, danger hot sauce and spicy ponzu sauce). It was missing the crabmeat. I called & spoke to PEDRO to let them know. He was insistent that you have to choose it as a topping, whereas the KOA comes w/it. We've ordered from Nishi at 4263 Overland over 20xs in the past 6 months! I didn't want a refund or anything, just calling to inform them because we would like to order again. PEDRO, LAUGHED AND CONTINUED TO INSIST THAT IT'S A TOPPING....and then said, "Go order from another place!" and HUNG UP! HE WAS VERY RUDE!! I've never experienced this from the other...
