Paco's has gone down hill so badly we have no intention of returning unless my little grandson insists for his Birthday. Now, their food was never great, but it was good, the prices fair and the service excellent. Such is no longer the case. I would give them 2 stars but they sang Happy Birthday to my grandson so I am being overly kind.
There were 5 of us. They brought one basket of chips. You want another, again 5 of us, you will be paying for that. You walk in the place and it is now very warm. It is not as clean as it used to be, but it is fine.
The service was so slow and it was not peak dinner time, not that such would be an excuse. They got our order wrong and the food was not good, some of it was not something you would eat. But, my dog liked 240$ worth of food.
First, they came to get our drink order and that was fine. Then we waited and waited and someone came to take our order. We all had expensive dishes and when they came they all looked the same. They were not, they were just a mess of food on a plate. We ordered a shrimp cocktail that is supposed to have ceviche in it. Look at the photo, it is mostly water. There were 3 little shrimp and more watery ceviche. My grandson was the only one who would eat it. The balance just sat. Our food came at the same time instead of the starters and then the meal. I can live with that if it were any good.
My grandson is a Special Needs child and can handle zero stress, so I could not return my dish and it went home to the dog, most everyone's did. I was so very clear that I was highly allegoric to sour cream and none was to be on my chimichanga or anything else. I clearly said this and added, no sauce of any kind at all. Just make it plain. The plate had been sitting in the heat and all the sour cream had melted into the entire plate. They must love sour cream. The plate was such a mess and the chimichanga so small that I could not find it. I took a bite of the beans and there was sour cream under it and I thought I would vomit. I looked at the rest of it and none of it could be eaten. I sat there with a smile on my face for my grandson and not one staff member even asked if our food was okay. Not even when I had the entire meal put in a box, all of them.
My husband had a steak dish that he asked for rare to medium rare. It was burnt. The dog liked that as well. The rice on all dishes was dry. The beans, the dog would not even eat.
The one thing they have that is still good are their tortillas, that are made there. But it took forever to get them.
The flan was fine.
It took a long time to get the bill. They have raised their prices. I have had better food at the worst taco truck in town.
What a waste of money. Four plates barely touched. My grandson did...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI use to live in the area 15yrs ago & Pacoās was my favorite Mexican restaurant. I went today for the first time since I moved away. I was sadly disappointed. Everything was fine till we sat down & I noticed there was a list of things they were now charging for. 1 basket of chips & salsa. Any more was additional cost. Extra tortillas additional cost. Need or want to share a plate with a child or someone who may not eat as much, an extra charge for a plate. I partly understand, these are tough times for restaurants but then my plate came to the table. I ordered the 2 chicken enchilada combo. I dug into the enchiladas & thought, these seem a little thin than before. Then I thought, wait a minute, these must be cheese enchiladas. I was ready to tell the waitress I got the wrong order. I cut open the enchiladas further & saw there was chicken. It was just 1/4 of the chicken they use to put into the enchiladas. They use to be stuffed with chicken. The prices have gone up since Iāve been there last which is totally understandable. The prices are reasonable but if youāre gonna give less & have a list of extra costs at the table, just raise your prices a little more. Otherwise it just seems like your nickeling &...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI haven't eaten at Paco's Tacos in 15 years, and now I know why. Today a couple friends of mine and I had a late lunch at their restaurant on Centinela. First of all there's no parking. Upsetting the neighbors as you park in front of their house is not a great way to start any meal. Everybody at the table ordered combinations at $13.50 each and I ordered a tostada. The quality of the food was terribly low. You could taste it in the vegetables especially the lettuce and olives. The meat was horrible low-grade maybe for maximum profits. It's one of the reasons I tried to avoid Oaxaca restaurants . This restaurant does stay busy so they are putting smiles on other people's faces, but I won't be going back. Even the waitress agreed with me. I asked her if she felt bad charging these type of prices for Mexican food. She said yes I do, but there's nothing I can do. If you're looking for good Mexican food on the Westside there's plenty of other places to go. Good luck
