Came for a latte art class today and I cannot believe the quality of instruction and care that Jonathan delivered. As someone who has coached and taught for years it was wonderful to see someone so passionate and talented in their element. Here are some things that stood out from our experience:
Jonathan told us "no apologies". This set our group up with the expectation that failure and learning is part of the process and we don't need to feel shame or fear when attempting something new. He made sure to walk through the process carefully giving plenty of information but not overloading us (a tough balance to strike!) and ensured that we had all the tools we needed before we practiced on our own. For the first attempts he watches and helps us carefully, moving the cup with us and holding the pitcher, and taking care of the details. Then on the second attempt he gives each person a different level of assistance according to what they need--only the best of teachers can read the room and connect with each person so quickly to give personalized instruction! Finally, after celebrating our victories and pushing us to confidently make our own lattes and corresponding latte art, he sat down with us and ensured we had all of the tools and information to successfully bring this home so we don't have this disillusionment of "oh no, I can't recreate the latte at home!" After the class. He gave precise measurements and tradeoffs and it felt like we had our own personalized expert to consult with.
Something which seems to some maybe frivolous or insignificant--who cares what your coffee looks like? Jonathan turned into an experience we won't soon forget, and a tradition we hope we can bring home--a craft to hone and share with guests and loved ones! It's astounding how a small practice and skill uncovers doubts or fears and I cannot think of a more perfect ambassador of the coffee education than Jonathan. He has an incredible heart for the craft and was so affirming and sweet during the entire experience.
I have consumed a number of cups of coffee in my life that I could probably count on just a few hands, and yet I enjoyed this experience so much! My wife is the coffee expert and the resident barista in our home, and she was able to further hone her craft while I grew a greater appreciation for the many high pitched machine whirring noises I have heard in our home in the mornings.
Thank you Jonathan and thank you Regent for a fantastic experience and we will be back for...

This was my very first latte art class, and it absolutely won’t be my last! Jonathan is an incredible teacher so kind, patient, and genuinely passionate about what he does. From the start, he created such a welcoming and supportive environment. There was a moment during the class where I got so nervous I almost felt like I blacked out, but he immediately reassured me. He reminded me that this is a safe space to learn, and that coffee can be overwhelming at first, but it’s all part of the process. That simple encouragement meant so much.
His teaching style is truly out of this world. He explains everything so clearly and intentionally, making the experience accessible even for complete beginners. Somehow, he takes you from knowing nothing to feeling like you can actually create something beautiful and I left feeling so proud of what I made.
If you’re thinking about taking this class, don’t hesitate! Not only will you enjoy amazing coffee, but you’ll be surrounded by great energy, good vibes, and true coffee enthusiasts. My fiancé and I had such a fun time it was the perfect date night experience. We’re both so excited to keep practicing and make latte art for each other at home.
Highly recommend five stars...
Read moreRegent Coffee is one of the best speciality coffee places in LA, if not the country. I am a coffee enthusiast and I have traveled across the country to taste good coffee, and this is surely one of the finest.
Leon (the owner) is a coffee scientist. He loves what he does, knows his coffee well and is always curating something new and beautiful. Don’t come here just to pick your morning Starbucks replacement. You can obviously do that but this place is a lot more - come to taste good coffee, explore and learn about the process behind it and know the people who made it happen.
Beyond serving great coffee in general, their speciality is Barrel aged coffee, thoughfully aged in Whiskey Barrels to infuse a deep aromatic whiskey tone to their beans. Do try their Cold Brew, or request your espresso beans updgraded to Barrel aged beans. You will love it!!!
I have been visiting the Glendale location for a few years and super excited about what they are trying to do with this expansion in Eagle Rocks! Highly highly...
