I heard a few times this coffee shop was really good but I am pretty disappointed by my first experience. New England was good but peanut butter coffee is warm in a plastic cup, they said it’s chilled but it’s not. Added ice the second I got home, also had to microwave my burrito at home because after waiting almost forty minutes for burritos that are premade and just toasted at the coffee shop (I didn’t know that before placing a pick up order) the cheese inside was not melted. Turkey and bacon burrito wasn’t good either I wouldn’t recommend they both had an overbearing meaty flavor my friend couldn’t finish either. I went when it was pretty slow yet it took forever to get my burritos I ordered a while ago and again I’m not sure why since there’s no kitchen and it wasn’t busy I had to get back and line and ask for it from the cashier because the rudest female barista didn’t want to get them for me. I politely waited without saying anything were drinks are picked up and she told me to go to the opposite side of the bar to pick up my food, when I asked her if they were ready since it was past the estimated pick up time she just repeated her last statement not answering my question. Again, no one was really busy it was pretty slow no reason to be rude or provide bad lagging service but I would have been more understanding about all of that if it was really busy. If it’s like this when it’s slow I can’t imagine...
Read moreI felt like a square ⬛️ peg in a round 🔴 hole here. They only let 5 people in at a time. Line outside to get in. We waited until 3 people left, but were promptly shooed out when the 2 of us tried to enter. Enter cautiously, and be prepared to be shooed out. When we did make it in, I asked that my espresso drink the Cloudy be iced because it was a hot day. I was told NO ICE. It only comes as is. My daughter tried to get the Cloudy with tea and was told NO, and that the peanut butter foam could not be put on any other drink. Sigh. I admit, I started to grumble a bit. My daughter ordered the Mylk Tea instead.
Don't expect any substitutions here. They take their beverages and store capacity of 5 VERY seriously here. They were patient with my grumbling. But Rules are Rules here.
Then our drinks came. Okay, all my grumbling against rules and getting kicked out when we tried to enter floated away as the heavenly flavors and textures hit my mouth. They were right. Don't ice the Cloudy. It's all about the delightful heat of the fresh espresso shots hitting the chilled oat milk. Divine. Comes in a small cup with no lid, so be careful when you stroll with it. My daughter's Mylk Tea with honey also a heavenly combo of flavors.
Set aside your rebellious inclinations, follow the rules, and be patient; the drinks here are...
Read moreKumquat is a petit multiroaster coffee shop with a charming little patio. I always look forward to visiting Kumquat, because every visit feels reassuring and exciting.
The reassurance stems from their consistent quality control and attention to details. Every cup is made and served as if it was a ritual. I especially like that they put the lid on the side, not on the cup. The only time I had something to complain about, and I did complain because their black napkins bleed, they changed to white when I visited again a week later.
The excitement is because of Kumquat's understated creativity. On the menu you'll find staple signature coffee drinks: New England and Tennessee are two flavored lattes, and their famous Cloudy with a Chance of Peanut, a cream top iced latte with peanut butter foam and powder. The condensed 8oz drink with its rich peanut butter flavor feels almost like a dessert, and I truly enjoyed the special experience. Moreover, Kumquat creates signature tea drinks every month, and they always hit the right note of novel and balanced flavor with a dashing presentation. Like July's Lychee Hongcha Latte and August's Maldives Cooler. Kumquat finds a way to make drinks look good even in a...
