I came here on 3/30 with two friends and we shared a pitcher of margaritas. When ordering, we asked for 3 waters which were never brought to us. We asked again for our waters from one of the bus boys who dropped off our drinks, and he proceeded to clean the entire table off that was in front of us, and didn’t bring our waters. Then, when I had to use the bathroom at 9pm, the same bus boy I asked the waters for said “no, we’re closed”, and I had to beg him to use the restroom, and had to also beg for the waters we asked for TWICE. There was one other large table seated there on the outdoor patio next to us, of about 6 people who all had their masks on and would only pull them down when they took sips of their drinks. We began to leave around 10pm when we finished our drinks, the same time and just the other party next to us began to leave. There was one worker still there, and I saw him carrying the bathroom key so I asked him to use the restroom again before we left (I have a small bladder, especially when drinking more than 1 beverage). He said “no, we’re closed”. I said, no, I really have to go, I’m a woman, and i will be really quick, I’m not going to make a mess (again BEGGING). He finally agreed and said “fine, just lock the door behind you”. Come to find out, the group that was seated next to us said to the worker as I used the restroom “I’m sorry you had to deal with that”. As if me asking using the restroom was a horrible/rude thing to ask. First of all, both myself and the party I was with have worked in restaurants for years, and it is common courtesy to at least announce when you are closing so that guests who are still enjoying the beverages you paid for are able to relieve themselves. Not only that, it is a big NO-NO and horrible customer service to refuse someone the right to use the restroom just because you “want to go home”. That is exactly what the worker said when I said I had to use the restroom and he agreed that as long as I locked it behind me I could go. He literally told me I was insignificant for needing to use the restroom because HE “wanted to go home”. Clearly he hates his job so much that he couldn’t wait LITERALLY TWO MINUTES for me to use their restroom. I give this establishment one star for obvious reasons. Not only that, it’s a huge liability risk to let customers leave at will. Everywhere I’ve worked in this industry, if there is even one person still in the establishment after closing, it’s the employee’s responsibility to stay until that customer leaves, for liability reasons. I will be calling and asking to speak with the manager about this, because I am certain this is not proper business protocol and instead was the result of selfish/lazy employees who don’t like their jobs. Horrible customer service. That being said, the drinks themselves were delicious! I’d like to come back if I’m treated with basic...
Read moreThis place is awesome. My wife and I came here our last night in LA/California. We had gone to the beach and all my wife wanted on our vacation was fish tacos. A quick Google search lead us here. It was out of the way from where we were and from our friends house where we were staying in Sherman Oaks, but it was totally worth the detour. We were super hungry from being out in the sun all day so we ordered one of almost everything. The people looked at us like we were crazy but they gladly fed us. We got there about 8:30 and the sun was setting so we sat out in their deck. It was so nice and peaceful. The food came and it was delicious! I have never had fish tacos that were so good and fresh! Everything. Was cooked well. I'm really weird about fish but nothing was too fishy or strong. The prices were pretty reasonable too. All the food and two margaritas were only about $40. My only complaint is the place was pretty dirty. The bathrooms were gross, both men's and women's. I don't think either had toilet paper. Mine had the biggest scariest spider in it. I'm not sure the tables had been wiped off ever. We laid a bunch of napkins down so we didn't get a bunch of stuff on our forearms or stick to the table. That's really the only reason the place doesn't get all 5 stars. We wish there was a place like this here in Minnesota. I look forward to another trip to California for...
Read moreThis has been my favorite spot for authentic Mexican for decades, but something has made it go downhill fast, and I suspect new ownership/management.
I brought my mom for the first time yesterday. Ordering and finding a table was fine, but then we waited almost an hour to get our order. I've never waited more than 20 minutes.
As we're waiting, we hear an argument between an older man and a young woman. She was courteous and attentive to all of the guests, but the older man (wearing a Rams blue cap) was dismissive and condescending to her.
She was trying to convince him they needed more help, there's only one cook and the poor guy us exhausted, and that customers are waiting way too long. He repeatedly dismissed her and then sat down to have drinks with his buddies, oblivious and arrogant.
Its sad that it seems management is either being stubborn or greedy and is burning out their staff. I'll go to the downtown location from now on if I want to impress someone from out of town with authentic Mexican.
I hope they come to their senses before they fail, I'd hate to see an Eagle Rock staple go under for...
