There are a lot of cafes in LA but this one is by far my favorite. The owner and staff are so kind and accommodating. I am vegetarian and the owner made a version of their turkey sandwich off-menu that was maybe the best sandwich I’ve had. Definitely recommend the tomato monkey bread too. Fast wifi and a lot of outlets for people who want to study or do work. Indoor and outdoor seating as well as a free parking lot. I think Smalls is unique from other cafes here because of its community feel—it seems like a lot of customers know the owner and staff by name and vice versa. Folks stop and chat and there are resources for community members such as free masks. I definitely wanted to gate keep Smalls, but it’s too good to keep to myself. So glad my friend recommended this spot to me.

Stumbled upon this coffee shop on accident & let me tell you, it made my day. I wish I could remember the name of who helped me but he was very nice, welcoming and accommodating. For starters, the dubai chocolate is soooo good & reasonably priced, I was very excited to try it. I also got a turkey & cheese croissant, also very tasty, perfect texture and had a good balance of sandwich & croissant. Lastly, the coffee was a delightful, I had a Spanish Latte & it was delicious, not too sweet or bitter, the espresso was perfect & not burnt. The barista did an amazing job crafting the latte. Definitely will be back, hopefully very soon!

Last Sunday, I was in bad need of a matcha, my friend needed coffee and I was setting my standards low seeing that our options were slim... I'm an out of towner, I was disoriented, my friend had no caffeine her system so it was looking pretty bleak. A quick search pulled up Smalls. Cute, clean, friendly dude took our order then OUT CAME THE MATCHA WHISK. Oh my god, they serve the real deal... my heart skipped a beat.

He explained that the matcha company is woman-owned and meticulously harvested, both quite important to me personally, but more than anything I new that this was not just going to be a fix, it was going to be an EVENT. I was not wrong. Seriously. IYKYK... a matcha is not just green tea, it truly is an experience when executed correctly and this WAS exactly that. My friend got a chocolate croissant that rolled her eyes into the back of her head... this place hits the bullseye and I wish I...
