SusieCakes - La Brea — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I walked past Susie Cakes regularly for a year before I stopped in because I'm not a cake or cupcake kinda girl, but I saw they had cookies, and I'm definitely a cookie lady! Let me tell you... I'm so happy I did. Their peanut butter cookie just melts in your mouth, soft chewy and moist, the best one I've had! The chocolate chip cookie was perfect, thin, crispy edges, slightly salted, melt in your mouth center with the right amount of chocolate to cookie ratio. One day while waiting in line, I decided to sample the mocha cupcake and this was the best cupcake I've had! I wasn't a cupcake person because they always seemed so sweet and lacking flavor no matter where I got them, but these... these were amazing, so amazing that I'm now a cookie, Susie Cakes, cupcake girlie! OH. MY. HEAVENS!! 😤 Howwwww do you get it THIS wrong? A "Heart-shaped cake with not one hint of a heart, on it. Then the cake was nasty. Dry not, moist. Disgusting bread too. Taste stale. Then there's the disgusting chocolate chips that didn't melt (I'm sure we rushed at higher baking tip - I cook&bake). What a dismal cake that turned my daughter's 17th birthday into a teary tragedy! I can't say enough true slams on Susie Cakes. Don't trust it! This bakery is subpar at best. There wasn't even a consolation offered. A refund is not only customary but, mandatory. There was no follow-up and the "manager" Henry did not even follow-up 🙄 No way I'd ever spend my money here again. This cake cost the better part of 100$. We chose SusieCakes for our wedding cake and it was the perfect choice. We first tried another popular LA bakery and sadly we were not impressed by both their product or their customer service. SusieCakes on the other hand was a pleasure to work with from the very beginning they made it easy to do a sample and then provided us handy guides for ordering. When it came time to order for our big day it was seamless and they delivered it to our venue right on time. The presentation of the cake was exactly as described and the cake was so delicious. Honestly it was a highlight of our wedding, we were looking forward to the cake for months and told guests how good the cake would be LOL. They were all impressed as well.
