Wow, the sauce on the was so delicious! Low-key tempted to just order the sauce! I will be returning for roasted duck over rice.

I ordered the Coconut Matcha cloud, roasted duck over rice and the fresh spring roll. Came on Friday late afternoon - plenty of parking on the street. The food came relatively fast with mindfulness to the pace of the eater.

The roasted duck over rice was delicious. I love how if you add of the sauce drizzled rice, a piece of the duck lightly dipped in the sauce, then scope just a tiny bit of that sauce. It's like a comfortable and cozy mealtime right from your favorite home kitchen. There's ample of rice. I would dare say that if you didn't finish all the rice to eat it with some of the other proteins that you can order. Definitely took the leftover rice home. I like how the rice doesn't stick together and was cooked to the right temperature. The vegetable on the side was a nice addition to the flavor which makes it all the more feel like home.

The Fresh spring roll didn't just have some normal sauce on the side. The sauce was WARM and the punch in flavor was so good. I ate this first before the roasted duck and this only got me more excited! I also asked for extra of this sauce to take home. I love the flavor of the thai basil in this spring roll.

The coconut matcha cloud was surprisingly good. But I would love to try other drinks next time to see if it would accompany the food better.

They are also serving alcohol drinks too!

Atmosphere: Upscale to Casual. The waitress was nice and helpful with any questions, they also seem to have good relationships with the community by regular/semi-regulars. I love how there's an outdoor space (in the shade) for friends to chat with their coffee or drinks.

Parking: Yes; after 5PM they have ~5-6 FREE parking behind the building (there's no street name, it's a small alley). Paid parking on La Brea Ave.

Bathroom: Yes; I didn't get a...

✨ Hidden Gem for Thai Breakfast & Classics! ✨ I stumbled upon Spelling Thai Bistro and was blown away by their unique mix of Thai-American breakfast and authentic Thai dishes — it’s a vibe!

We started with their Avocado Toast Bun and the Spelling Breakfast, which came with two eggs, a fresh side salad, and a waffle. Everything was plated beautifully and tasted even better. The avocado toast had a nice crunch and the waffle was the perfect balance of soft and crispy.

For our main dishes, I had the Khao Soi with Roasted Duck — rich, creamy curry broth with perfectly tender duck and egg noodles. Absolute comfort in a bowl. We also got the Pad Thai with Crispy Pork, which was flavorful and had the perfect amount of crunch from the pork.

The staff was super friendly and the vibe was cozy but modern. Definitely coming back to try more!

✅ Great breakfast spot ✅ Authentic Thai flavors ✅ Friendly service ✅ Cute, cozy location

Put this spot on your list if you're in LA and craving something...

Five Stars – An Unforgettable Anniversary Dinner!

We had the most amazing experience at Spelling Thai celebrating our anniversary. From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming staff made us feel like special guests. The service was flawless—attentive without being overbearing, and every recommendation from the owner was spot on.

The food was absolutely phenomenal—every dish was bursting with authentic Thai flavors, perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. The Pad Thai and Thai Basil were standouts, but honestly, everything we tried was delicious, especially the Mango Sticky Rice.

What made the night even more special was the surprise complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary. It was such a thoughtful touch and the perfect sweet ending to a perfect meal.

The atmosphere was cozy, inviting, and beautifully decorated, creating a relaxing vibe that made us want to linger just a little longer.

Thank you, Spelling Thai, for making our evening...

I had a wonderful experience at this Thai restaurant! I ordered the green curry, Pad Thai, and Pad See Ew, and everything came out together very quickly and hot. The Pad See Ew with beef was definitely the star of the meal, so flavorful and the beef was incredibly tender. The green curry was also delicious. I usually can't handle a lot of spice, but the medium level was just right for me. If you're someone who enjoys a good kick, l'd recommend going for the highest spice level. They let you choose! The restaurant was also very clean, and I loved that the kitchen was visible. The owner was so kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Prices are reasonable, especially for LA. I would definitely visit here again!
