Review for Tony Khachapuri and Oui Melrose - Everything about this was perfect. 11:15am on a Saturday - no line, indoor tables available. A few donut flavors weren't made yet. By the time we finished all their donut flavors were stocked. Friendly folks behind the counter and we got our food quickly.
Holy s*t, you guys. THE FOOD.
Original Khachapuri - the PERFECT amount of crunchy crispness on the outside of the bread with just the most wonderful fluffy softness in the middle. And then you tear a piece off and scoop up summmadat cheesey goodness from the boat. Dang. You guys. It's so cheesy and goopy without being "bland cheese gob." Salty, garlicky. The egg yolk seals the deal. It's a perfect dish. Oh! AND the bottom of the boat stayed crisp somehow. Sorry to all you Soggy Bottom Heads out there.
Fried Fish Sandwich - I like a soft bun, and it was. The tartare sauce was dilly and awesome. I like when dill is in things. I thought the amount of sauce was perfect, but my partner, who doesn't enjoy a mayo based sauce, thought it was a little too much, but still liked the flavor. The fry on the cod was perfectly crunchy. It's not the bulbous bready batter that gets greasy - you know what I'm talking about. AND THE PICKLES! A+ pickle flavor and the slices were thoughtfully placed so you get some pickle with every bite.
Orange Blossom Pistachio Donut - the donut itself was soft, fluffy, melt in your mouth style. Raised? Perfect is what it was. And the dunk gunk was so delicious. The orange blossom flavor was just sweet enough, light, floral, and lovely. Floral without being perfumey. Really a special donut.
I highly recommend. Your friends and lovers will be impressed.
Did not get a photo because once I saw the food, literally (figuratively) nothing else existed. Sorry to my lunch companions. Hmmm...since in my brain I perceived of nothing else, it could be that "literally" nothing else existed since we create our own realities? ...
Read moreAn excellent place for those who are looking for authentic Georgian dishes, especially khachapuri from Adjara! I was very pleased when I found this restaurant because I had been looking for a place to enjoy tasty and high-quality khachapuri for a long time. The recipe here is really authentic, and the khachapuri are fresh, hot, and aromatic.
I also want to mention the excellent service at this restaurant. The owners and staff are very friendly and willing to help with choosing dishes, suggesting what to look for on the menu, and answering any questions about Georgian cuisine. I felt very welcome and comfortable when I visited this place.

Read moreFor Khachapuri outside of Georgia, it was really very good. I can understand that you can't get original Georgian Sulguni cheese in the USA. But the cheese was a bit too creamy (like Philadelphia cheese or something like that). That would be better replaced with a mixture of mozzarella and feta. Then you get closer to the original. And what should not be missing on any Adjarian Khachapuri is a piece of melting butter. Green peppers were added as a garnish. There is no such thing in Georgian cuisine. Then you'd be better off making a beetroot or a spinach Pkhali with walnuts or pomegranate seeds. Then your Adjaruli Khachapuri will be wow 🤩 ...
