I ordered from Totos' using the Postmates app. I mention this first as I've ordered dozens of times through Postmates and I've hardly ever had a problem. The food is almost universally hot and fresh even if it takes a while to get there. However, the food I received was absolutely room temperature. Nothing was even slightly warm. I'm going to have to blame the restaurant for this just based on my past experiences with Postmates. I have a feeling it sat out for a while in a box inside of a bag nowhere near a heat lamp. Also it only took 30 minutes from ordering to arriving at my door. No excuse. With that said, let's move on to the actual food.
Unfamiliar with African cuisine, I decided on three different small items, sort of like appetizers. I ordered one sausage roll, one samosa and one meat pie. Also I ordered a bottle of coke (for $3.00, it was more expensive than nearly everything else I ordered!).
After I realized everything was cold, I put everything on a plate and microwaved it for about 60 seconds. That helped a lot. The sausage roll was pretty interesting, with a nice flaky crust. The samosa had a solid flavor, vegetable-forward and the mint sauce complimented it well. The meat pie was actually really good! I just wish it would have arrived hot. I'd be willing to try this spot again but only If I could get it fresh. Pretty decent food, but cold....
Read moreI was so excited to try a new African place but i was unfortunately so disappointed. First of all there was terrible customer service. We had to wait a few minutes for someone to come out and take our order which I didn’t necessarily mind since it gave us a moment to scan the menu. However, the woman who came out to take our order seemed to be uncomfortable with our presence for some reason, as if we were intruding. I ordered egusi and she asked me what kind of meat I wanted. Since I had never been there before I asked her what my options were and she told me “it’s on the menu”. I decided on chicken and although the interaction was awkward I wasn’t too bothered by it at the time, I was so excited to get home and try the food. The food was so underwhelming and unnecessarily expensive. I ended up paying $35 for a singular portion of stew and fufu with two scoops of rice (enough for 1-2 people) The price wouldn’t have even been a problem if the food had any flavor but combined with the attitude I’m just disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend this spot, it has 3 stars...
Read moreY’all… READ THE REVIEWS AND THE RESTURANTS RESPONSES!! Omg…why would you trust these people to make your food? They literally call customers dumb. I don’t even normally leave reviews but this is ridiculous. There’s a reason this place is always empty. Just like everyone else has said…The woman who works here is quite unfriendly and makes me uncomfortable every time I come in. I grew up in a nigerian community and know how to order food, I get the same thing every time but she always acts like she doesn’t know what I’m talking about. It’s a simple order of “meat with red stew” with rice…But she gets very semantic and always says it’s “red stew and meat”.. so strange... The food is also extremely overpriced . You get 3 pieces of meat w stew and rice for like 30 dollars…Extra meat is 3.50 for EACH PIECE. Feels like a scam when I can get a bag of meat for 30 dollars at the market. I love the food but it’s not worth coming here anymore. I will now have to drive 40 minutes to hopefully get better customer service . Smh. “Get...
