One of the true competitors to Salt & Straw of Oregon fame. The flavor at Wanderlust are daring and bold, and they strive for that international flavor profile almost to a point of reach with pandan-flavored cones. Small/shared parking lot with the barber shop, difficult to locate based on navigation (it’s directly across from the Smart & Final parking lot), bike racks on the wall kinda look like nooses. The bar seating has purse hooks like a brewery. The bathroom is hidden behind a panel of wall paper, tricky to find.
My first time trying Wanderlust creamery was at the Smorgasburg food truck gathering every Sunday from 10am-4pm. We took a broad approach with their ice cream flight and found all the flavors to be pronounced and distinct.
Fast-forward to most recent, we went to their shop and was actually confused on the location only to realize it is on a lot to an old garage. The restaurant was brightly lit and the waft of waffle cones were in the air.
I encourage people to indulge in their theme and go on an adventure regarding their flavors. None of them are too sweet unless it has something intrinsically sweet, like caramel. The servings were also generous. The cone felt a slight bit soggy or stale, maybe because people shied away from Pandan...
Read moreWanderlust Creamery has wonderful international flavor ice cream. From their ice cream display, it resembles the United Nation that represents many nations.
From reading the story that I got to know that Wanderlust means a strong desire to travel and a term used to describe the desire to live a delighted, awe-inspired life. Eating the ice cream here with wonderful flavors does bring delight to my life.
Each of their flavor has been inspired by places the ice cream creators has been and places they want to travel to.
Their Flavors range from Sticky Rice Mango inspired by Thailand to Ube Malted Crunch, inspired by our Filipino American upbringing, to Earl Grey inspired by Great Britain.
I love the ice cream texture that’s light on the palate and smooth for tasting. After finishing my ice cream, my mouth felt fresh without the heavy sugary after taste.
They have opened many shops throughout southern California. We came to this because we were having dinner in...
Read moreOne of the best ice cream spots in LA that’s perfect for dessert fans. Came here after dinner on a Wednesday around 9 (they’re open fairly late) and there was a short line that moved quickly. There are four outdoor benches available (no indoor seating). Credit card only. No bathrooms were available. There’s limited lot parking that they share with the barbershop.
There’s a set menu along with a rotating menu. The flavors are globally inspired and are really fun. There are vegan options (i.e. the mango sticky rice) as well. There are cone options for an additional fee or you can get a cup. I got two half scoops of the abuelita malted crunch and the Japanese Neapolitan. The abuelita malted crunch was nice and chocolatey, and the Japanese Neapolitan is an upgrade from just a straight matcha flavor. The kinder is a good call if you like a lighter flavor or Nutella. No samples are provided, but the descriptions are clear and you can’t go wrong with any of...
