Most of my reviews in chinatown will either end epicly good or epicly bad. I was very fortunate to have a family who dined in chinatown and we had gotten to know most of the businesses employees. This is by far one of them. I have been here when I was in a stroller and of course I cant remember that time. I do remember we came here every saturday. I remember when my mom gave birth to my brother and we pushed him in the stroller and we came here still to pick up the chinese pastries. We would always order in the huge mass of bundles. The main two things we ordered are the pastry buns with curry beef inside and the pineapple crusted buns that most of you know.. that we call bo-lo-boa. MMMM... I love both, and when you buy so much in mass, eventually to keep it fresh, you put it in the freezer. It does make a good snack, breakfast dish, and midnight snack. Sorry mom.. you will never read this, but I would always go downstairs and heat one up in the microwave and eat it all to myself. The grandma who use to run this fine establishment has handed over to her son and the business has made so many incredible accomplishments. The son had remodeled the bakery but keeping some of its originality that the old-time customers like me will cherish forever. Their boba, pastries, and cakes are very good. Come and...
Read moreI highly DO NOT recommend this bakery. I had ordered an egg tart and a beverage. After placing my order, I noticed in their glass display where they have their pastries there were a couple flys roaming around. I told the girl that took my order that I seen flys in there and she responded trying to argue with me saying that I was lying and that she seen flys outside of the case instead of inside. And to top it off she was eating while arguing with me. What kind of Customer Service is that? Considering Wonder Bakery has been in business for years and that's the kind of service your workers give to customers?? The cashier was a young Hispanic girl with a nose piercing. Very ugly attitude and seemed like she didn't wanna work. It sucks because workers like this create a bad reputation for businesses. Never again will I come here and the pastries and drinks suck too. Pastries taste old af and the drinks taste watered down and artificial. There are plenty of other places you can go around the area for great sweets, don't waste...
Read moreThis is right in New Chinatown. A pretty standard bakery serving a variety of simple desserts and some Asian specialties.
I came later in the afternoon so they were out of what I'm assuming are their more popular items such as the Egg Tart or Walnut Cookie. The pricing is very affordable for each item being a few bucks. I ended up getting the Mini Lotus Moon Cake and a Vietnamese Iced Coffee.
The Mini Lotus Moon Cake was classic. Smooth interior that is similar to red bean paste, but is from lotus seeds instead.
The Vietnamese Iced Coffee had the essence of a Vietnamese-style cafe, but had too much milk added for me that ended up watering it down. It still made for a good iced latte though.
Overall, a decent place with straightforward desserts at an...
