Tried it for the first time after a long break. Ordered a bottle of champagne, got generic wine glasses. For a place that has a wine club and retail wine outlet... Kinda lame. I have flutes (stemmed and stemless), tulips and coupes at home. At home, darlings! Any restaurant should have one proper glass type for the sparkling. Otherwise, I dunno, I might as well stay at home, save myself a makeup application and have a better experience - with proper stemware and courteous service. Plus I stock a better cheese selection than the sad-ish cheese board at this place. Had to pour it ourselves beyond the 1st pour. Huh? Staff did accommodate our request for no meat and goat cheese on the cheese board. However, got charged $35 instead of $32 listed on the menu. Don't want to argue that one, we've asked for extra bread, so whatever. However, might as well update the menu or tell you will charge more for modifications. Nothing to write home about on the cheeseboard front. Midway through service, our server ended his shift. We were still deciding on the main courses and were in no rush. Fine, close it out, start a new tab. New - tall bald dude with a beard behind the bar - gets the gold medal in ignoring these two customers. Never ever bothered to ask if we wanted/needed something. After a while, I decided to cut the crap and walked out, giving our dinner business to another restaurant on the same street. Barely two stars. Not...
Read moreLocation is great and staff is very friendly. However, the food leaves much to be desired. If you care about getting good food at a good price point (for Los Gatos), this is not the place for you. Highly recommend Aldo's a little further north towards Campbell. Note, I can't comment on the wine offerings. Here's what we ordered: Piccante Crostini ($8) - the menu does say a 'Trio of Toasted baguette Crostini with toppings'. However, what we got are three tiny crostini (each no more than 4" (Height) by 1" (Width) with just barely anything on top, served on a very large charcuterie (?) board. Meatball plate ($16) - 3 meatballs with not a lot of tomato sauce. They were good BUT nothing special. Ravioli with mushrooms and Truffles ($22) - 5-6 raviolis (served once again in a large plate). You can get better ravioli at Trader joes - that's all. At this point, we had enough and decided to leave. So for ~$52, we ended up getting paltry portion sizes - if the quality of the food was exceptional, maybe that would have been ok BUT that wasn't the case either. We left still hungry and...
Read moreWe went in and the place is nice looking, I was waiting for service at the bar and they seemed to be to busy talking to co workers. I was pointed to the owner and his wife in hopes that they would greet and shake peoples hands introducing themselves but instead they stayed in their own little group ignoring customers while watching people not being served. The first two things we chose to order they were out Of so we had replacements for our half ordered meals. Being a wine entrepreneur I was hoping the owner would walk around as I stated and introduce himself, as that is what I have experienced in high end wine bars in Walnut Creek and other nice places but again as I kept looking back at him and his wife they seemed un interested in there guest. Not sure if we will go back. The server took forever to notice we were waiting for our check. No apologies for the delay. Wish I could say I was impressed...
