This place has changed management again. It's not a warm place anymore as the owner's aunt hovers over the waitstaff like a hawk. She always looks around, but is not there for the customers. The owner is also arrogant. I asked for extra taziki when I ordered my sandwhich, because I do not feel they put enough on their sandwich; so I add more. This time, it looked like there was none on my sandwhich. So I asked them to remove the 1.00 charge for extra taziki since it appeared and tasted like there was none on the sandwich. Most restaurants would have apologized, or offered suggestions on how to order it next time and then deducted the $1.00. They would not, and were not nice about it. I am willing to pay for extra taziki each time I order my sandwhich. This time it did not look like there was any on the sandwhich. Therefore, I wanted the $1.00 taken off. The aunt strongly refused to deduct the $1 and the arrogant owner accused me of wanting something for nothing after discussing in their language. This can't be the furthered from the truth. I have been coming here from day one of its opening many years ago, and NEVER had an issue. This time I did and they lost a customer because they would not take off a $1.00 charge. This owner needs a lesson in how to deal with nice long term customers and customer satisfaction. He should not have come out of the kitchen to make a scene. But, He is the owner and can do what he wants. There are many other restaurants that offer better customer service. Oh, as always, the waitstaff has always been great. The owners aunt,...
Read moreAcropolis is my favorite restaurant! I go every year for my birthday and I drag my family who usually doesn't stray away from the basics. They love it too. A small and charming place on veterans where the food is real and the service is welcoming! There were quick to accommodate our table of 8 and the service was fast and charming. The wait staff serves together, everyone is constantly moving like a well oiled machine. We ordered the sampler, the baba ganoush was flavorful, the tzatziki was creamy, and the spinach pie was perfect. I do think that the hummus was a little dry but at least it didn't have a terrible lemon flavor or zing after taste like some places. I had the 6 onion soup. Completely different from the french onion soup this a creamy white pureed soup, perfectly hot and served with a puff pastry baked right on top. I ordered the moussaka which is always prepared and seasoned perfectly. We ended the night with tiramisu and happy birthday. Tiramisu lovely as always and since this is such a wholesome family place, it seemed the entire place was singing. The manager, a very congenial person indeed, gave us a $25 gift card as a birthday gift as if I needed any sort of goading to come back. There are always excellent 3 or 4 course specials, especially on Valentines day and other holidays. I will definitely be back and you should definitely...
Read moreA couple of friends and I went to Acropolis around 5pm on a Sunday evening. Although the parking lot is small and shared with other businesses, there was plenty of parking available. It seemed to be the perfect time to visit.
Our waiter was fantastic! He was great at explaining the menu and giving suggestions. They had a 4 course special for $19.99 with several soup, salad and entree choices. I went with the 6 onion soup, Greek salad and an entree which name I cannot pronounce or remember. I’m not a soup person, so wasn’t really feeling the soup. The salad was excellent! I will return for that alone. The entree was a flounder fish wrapped in pastry crust with a side of vegetables. The fish was big and thick. Personally, I prefer thinner pieces of fish. It had a good, distinct flavor in some portions and was lacking flavor in other portions. If the flavor would have carried all the way through, I would have loved it. I chose baklava for dessert and it was really good. I paid extra for a shot of Greek coffee (similar to espresso). It was different and strong, but I enjoyed it. I’d definitely be willing to return and try...
