I have to so say I've been here multiple times and it is usually a decent dining experience. Tonight, I can not say that. My wife and I dined at their hibachi table and all was good until the chef came out. He was pouring sauces out to everyone and asked if anyone liked ginger, I said I did, he started shaking it, and I mean shaking it like a can of paint! Top comes off, contents of the ENTIRE 32 oz. Drip cup went all over the table, grill, plates, drinks , and clothes. The smoke and smell from the burnt ginger caking on the grill was filling the hibachi area because the hood vent over top of the grill was not on. They got us fresh drinks, changed out the plates and asked us if we had any on us. When we said we did they just apologized more. I asked for a drink menu so I could get a drink from the bar. It took her 15 minutes plus me having to remind the waitress 3 times for her to bring one to the table. Our appetizer came out at the beginning of round 2 of our table service. We finished it and the plate sat, empty, in front of my wife for a WHILE. The server even acknowledged the empty plate and continued to pick up other dirty plates for multiple trips to the table. I asked for chop sticks. She brought them 10 minutes later saying she forgot I asked for them. As if this wasn't enough, the waitress was taking the sushi plate away from the woman sitting next to me, turned around and dropped used utensils, napkins, and lemon peels on to my head, on my plate, and in my lap. I had expressed to the waitress that I wasn't sure what else could go wrong, she said she felt terrible and left. She came back and said she would discount the ticket. When the bill came she told me that she didnt have the authority to do anything but her manager was "LIKE SUUUPER BUSY" and just told her to take my $6 cocktail off the bill. I was not and am not expressing my concern to get compensation, but I feel like if you go to ANY dining establishment, and get covered in food and utensils that have been INSIDE STRANGERS MOUTHS, you should at least hear what the manager has to say! The manager couldn't even show face to a table of 8 people who were covered in ginger sauce??? I was amazed by the lack of concern to the patrons of their restaurant.
Service aside, food was sub par....you could tell the hibachi chef was either new, nervous, or embarrassed. He burt A LOT of the food, he had raw chicken touching raw steak many times while cooking it, and the noodles were peppered with burnt chunks from the grill leaving them inedible.(and that was according to the whole table) I will say my scallops were pretty good....but I don't think good enough to make up for...
Read moreWe've been going there every Wednesday for months (date night). We've noticed that the time for us to be seated kept getting longer, even though they were virtually empty. We've had good servers in the past, even though the food took longer and longer each time. Unfortunately, this last time was the final straw. We waited in a line to be seated. No one in line could find the hostess. Once seated we waited 40 min for our meal. It was 2 poke bowls so no cooking required. Keep in mind, the place was not busy. Once the meal arrived, we noticed both of them were completely botched. After, letting the manager know, there didn't seem to be any concerns on their part. No explanation, no apologies, no compensation.... Nothing. Not by the manager or our waitress. By this time we had been there about an hour and only had miso soup. Without any explanation, I had no idea if they were even remaking the meal or how long it would take. We told the waitress that we waited too long and needed to go. We received a bill for our miso soup. That wasn't even comped. With all the time and mess UPS on their part, they still charged us for the soups. Well, they lost our...
Read moreSome of the worst sushi I've ever had. I've had sushi in California all the way to Florida. Got real basic things as much of the sushi menu has good or fried fish on it...or cream cheese (definitely overdone).
The nori was definitely low quality as it was leathery and difficult to chew. The fish itself was just a grade above fishing bait.
Service was also sub-par. Was sat in the back room that had to of been close to 80 degrees. Waited 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us to take our drink orders. Wife ordered a soda and a cup of water, I ordered a beer. 10 minutes later the soda and water arrives and that's when I was informed that the beer I ordered they were out of. Odd, because Asahi is a staple at any sushi restaurant. Ordered a Kirin instead and had to educate the server on that beer and it's presence on the menu. It finally arrived at the same time our soups arrived.
The soups were alright but nothing to write home about. 3 minutes after the soup arrived, our sushi was brought to the table. We asked for bowls for soy sauce and was told that wasn't available.
Not sure we will be back to Ichoban except for maybe trying out...
