Saw this place on YouTube and decided to drive from Baton Rouge to try it tonight. Awesome! Facility is clean, located in shopping mall (so easy parking and easy access to I-10). Staff is amazing… ultimate definition of Southern Hospitality, friendly, professional, fast and courteous and sweet. My glass of sweet tea, which was delicious by the way, never was less than half full. Buffet was huge. Simply more selections than my appetite could try. High points for baked catfish, shrimp creole, fried catfish, oyster dressing, seafood lasagna, cabbage, homemade pickles, beets, fried shrimp, and bread pudding. Gumbo was meh, as was shrimp and corn soup and boiled shrimp, and chicken etouffe, and the white rice had dried crispy from sitting uncovered on buffet (maybe take a page from Chinese buffets and set the white rice out in a large rice cooker with a lid) but frankly I was glad everything was not perfect because they would have had to roll me out in a wheel barrel if everything tasted as amazing as the rest. And even the few lesser appealing items were hot and fresh (except the white rice). Wanted to try fried chicken, the jambalaya and the cheesy spinach bread and the cornbread because they all looked so good but I simply could not fit anymore in me. And all this for $15.50!!! It’s priced at least $10 too low!!! Run, don’t walk, to this place as long as you aren’t worried about your waist line. Oh I forgot the salad bar is impressive and another item I had no belly room to try other than a single homemade pickle and a beet, which tasted like my grandma’s homemade pickles and beets. Easily worth the one and a half hour drive each way from Baton Rouge. I am originally from Lafayette where the restaurants are awesome but even Lafayette has no seafood buffet that can touch this place for quality and selection and price. If there is a better seafood buffet in south Louisiana, I haven’t found it yet. The YouTube video is named The Greatest Secret Cajun/Creole Buffet by Mike Chen and he posted it about two weeks ago. I don’t always agree with him (he made Bucee’s sound like a Michelin star dining experience ( it’s not)), but he nailed it with Louisiana Purchase Kitchen. If you do not love this place, your...
Read moreWe went 12/5/2017... visiting family and were running errands... Right off the bat...Rude front personnel. I ask about soup. Due to certain foods I can only eat..She replied, You're still gonna pay the buffet price. Yes we have soup. Even called ahead..I'm thinking no. Not if I'm not eating there. As my family members tried the food, I walked the (if you call it food/buffet. ) Soup? No soup. Salad? A bowl of last week lettuce a few toppings. The dressings were all mixed with each other. Also had food particulars in them. Then I walked over to the rude front personnel cashier & kindly asked for money back. Rudely replied, We don't refund back to your card. Cash back only. Did you still want your drink? I said yes. Not knowing it was non- carbonation of a syrupy flat dr. pepper. As my family tried to eat with that look in their eye of,. OMG, Greasy gross taste on their mouths. Figured 10.00 a person not counting drink. Maybe something edible. Nope.. Due to time an paid for family made the most of an their flat drinks an tried to eat. Finally waitress came back to table just as were leaving. I asked for a tea instead. I was so thirsty. The sweet tea was the only thing good. Personally we wish we would of never stopped there. Even though we didn't have much wait service..Still left her a big tip. She look like she was doing others work and hers Also she looked as if she wasn't feeling well. She was really nice. I will be calling corporate (someone in charge)..Family was so sick shortly after. Couldn't eat for several days so sick. On the highway driving back in all this bad weather. To a different state. We lived in Louisiana over 10 year's. Love an enjoy the Louisiana Good-home cooking and Ambiance and culture. Not this place. Please use your GPS on phone to look up another place to go. Pictures on their website, do not match what food really looks like. I should of taken a picture of the food to show you. Out of respect for my family an not wanting to create any focus on us...I enjoyed the company of my family. That's...
Read moreI discovered this gem a few years ago after flying in to NOLA airport from Houston. I've been dining here ever since when I fly back in. The food is always fresh, restaurant is always clean, and service is friendly. The buffet has a large variety of homestyle southern cooking and is kept well stocked. I felt this would be a perfect place to host my mom's milestone birthday dinner, so I reached out to them via their website to inquire about booking the restaurant for a private event. The experience EXCEEDED my expectations. The restaurant closed to the public for my dinner and I am still receiving positive feedback about the good time everyone had. My mom was the happiest I had ever seen her. The co-owner, Amy, was VERY pleasant to work with from planning in Feb. thru the dinner date in July. She was very responsive to emails/texts, open to all of my ideas, and had a few of her own. This helped tremendously with planning a dinner long distance. Amy and the staff also helped with setting up reserved tables and my decorations for the dinner. Kelly, the manager, was extremely helpful throughout the evening and after dieing clean up. 40+ people fit very comfortably and all guests made it through the buffet line in 15 min!! Silverware was placed on the tables beforehand, and drink orders were taken and filled quickly. The entire staff, from Kelly to the wait staff to the cook, made us feel welcomed and we'll taken care of. Lousiana Purchase staff is the epitome of work "family." I witnessed the staff conversing and having a good time behind the scenes even when they didn't know anyone was watching. :) I am a forever patron of Louisiana...
