If I can give this place -5 stars I most certainly would! I have been there many of times before and never had a bad experience! When the waitress came up to us to get our drink order, we requested for queso and guacamole, she then continued without any acknowledgment and said "so what do you want to drink" with an attitude! So no big deal right, we continued to have a great time and just try and enjoy our lunch! When lunch came, I ordered a beef flouta. Every Mexican restaurant I go to, I order floutas! Well when I took a bite, it was such an unpleasant taste, I spit it out! It was hard, had no flavor, it was just not to my personal liking! So I requested to have chicken floutas instead. The manager then comes up to the table with the beef flouta that I had before, (he had it cut in half) and he began to argue with me on how "that's how it is cooked, there is nothing wrong with it!" I explained that I personally did not like it, and that I would like to try the chicken floutas! After picking up the flouta and still arguing with me, on how "I was wrong" he shook his head and walked away! At this point I don't even want to eat anything else, I am embarrassed and feel disrespected! When the chicken floutas came out, another waitress brought it to me, and I tried them and they tasted great. But due to the experience that I have had at this point, I was ready to leave! So I asked for my check and paid. When my change came back, I was supposed to get .41 cents back. I am fully aware that .41 cents is not a big deal, but again after this experience why would I even give them .1 cent more of my money. I didn't even want to pay for the food/service that I was given, let alone a tip to service that should have never been given to me in the first place! So I asked the original waitress for my change and when she came back, she came up to me and said "I'm sorry about that" and when I opened it, it was nothing but pennies! My point in all of this, is that the waitress had an attitude from the beginning! Also not just the waitress but the manager wanted to confront me, a customer, about "how wrong I was!" I work in a restaurant myself, and the customer is always right! And even when the customer isn't right, they still are right. The customer is paying you, not the other way around. You don't argue with them and give them attitude! I will never come back, and I will make sure everyone knows about my experience, because it was embarrassing and...
Read moreThe food was excellent. Although the reviews were up and down, our local friend insisted the food was delicious and he was right. We ordered a No 4 lunch special that had a pork tamale, beef enchilada, beef taco, rice and beans. They brought out chips with bean dip and some salsa while waiting for the food, which many restaurants now charge for. The bean dip and refried beans were quite flavorful (maybe the same). While I love bean dip, even my husband said that the bean dip was excellent. The salsa was good, but could have used a little more hot spice for me. The pork tamale was the absolute best I have had in a long time. The beef enchilada was filled with savory shredded beef and quite a bit of it, more than most restaurants give. The beef taco was good, but could have used some salsa. Luckily, we had salsa from the chips we put on it, which made it excellent. The rice was normal Mexican rice. Overall, it was a huge lunch serving that we split and both of us were stuffed full. Our friend ordered a No 11 with chile rellenos and other stuff. His meal was huge and he savored every bite. We used to come here 30 years ago for Happy Hour and the food is just as delicious as it was then. Actually, our waiter/bartender, David, said he started out at this restaurant 30 years ago and recited the Happy Hour free food menu from 30 years ago. David was very friendly, personable, and gave us excellent service. We'll definitely return next time we are in town. Although you can't tell from the outside, it's a nice restaurant with great food and great service, which is why they have been around at least 30 years that I know of and probably quite...
Read moreMy cousin and I went to Casa Garcia, a tried and true neighborhood Mexican restaurant. I had shrimp fajitas - worth every cent. my cousin had the combination platter - an array of various items. we had eaten some [but not a lot] and got some to go boxes. as we were transferring the remaining food to the box, I noticed something weird, on the leaf of lettuce garnish on her plate. I picked up the slimy, white thing and realized it was a cocktail napkin. We brought this to the attention of the waiter. he said he informed the manager -- who didn't even come to the table to investigate. When I asked the waiter if the manager was coming over, he said he wasn't going to. Mind you, no effort was made to replace the meal, comp it, or discount the bill. I was extremely dismayed, so I approached the manager and asked why he made no effort to acknowledge or apologize, and all he did was shrug his shoulders. Up until that moment, Casa Carcia WAS my go-to restaurant for Mexican. I will never step foot in that establishment ever again. Note: because the napkin was not discovered until we were boxing up the leftovers, I'm guessing the manager thought we may have planted it in the food ourselves. We did not. We were not looking for a comped meal, but at the very least, an apology. Instead, we were shown complete and utter...
