1/2/2021 - Back to try again with family... and a much better experience. Apparently, the pork rind offerings are gone, as there were no appetizers unless you ordered them. Honesty, I wish they would just go back to the original soft garlic bread and au jus. In any event, they win back some stars for great service, cold beer, and... maybe the second best burger I can remember. Everyone seemed happy but they aren't always truthful. So from my POV... their steaks were no where close to ordered temps... that I saw. But... my burger was the shizzle. So I'll up my rating as I am a little more comfortable bringing family here... but realize... we came on the recommendation of others... I'm not back yet. Definitely already on the down swing. Some menu changes including switching from bread offerings to pork rinds??? I'm not kidding. The service was friendly but I watched as our table was stacked with our appetizer, salads, and main dishes all at once. Then I watched three other tables go through the same thing. The queso hardened while we tried to finish the salads then ended our meal with cold brisket, pork and ribs. The manager was nice about it, but we left the gift card she offered behind. Not a Happy Valentine's. Previously, Fantastic place... are we in Nashville or Gatlinburg? This place takes you on a BBQ trip to heaven. We arrived with our party of five on a Friday evening and had about a 15 minute wait. There was a band playing in one room, another separate diningroom and plenty of outdoor seating that gives the feeling of BBQ Disneyland! There are buses, tractors and old farm nostalgia in every corner. The kids opted for appetizers and burgers... while we had the Big Salty, which you can rename to buckets of meat. It serves four, so we knew were taking a lot of food home. There was brisket, ribs, sausage, pork belly, pulled pork and four sides. Did I mention the garlic breadsticks with au jus that was complimentary? Great beer selection and specialty drinks, too. While the burger needs work and it was awfully noisy... they definitely deliver great southern BBQ. Highly recommend a visit!

April 10, 2022 We're back!! Had a burger this time....OMG....this one was HUGE!!! It's The Messy Burger!!! It was so good. I didn't have the queso on mine because I'm allergic to jalapeños...oh but I can imagine how scrumptious it would have tasted. Seriously you need to go out and try Salty Joe's its definitely an experience all the way around...quality food, quality service and quality atmosphere!!! November 21,2021 We are back again!!! This is the place to get your BBQ fix!!!! I will say this again....so mouth-watering!!! You really need to check them out!!! Our server this time - Benny - was so much fun!!! He was knowledgeable about the menu and he answered all our questions!! And he had our back watching out for food allergies!!! Have to take a moment...smoky goodness...mouth-watering Bar-B-Q...delectable sides and scrumptious desserts!! You can't miss going to Salty Joe's for some of the best Bar-B-Q, friendly & knowledgeable staff and fun atmosphere and Includes live music!!! Our server. Jordan, was so helpful & friendly as this was our first visit. She had a good knowledge of the menu and the history of Salty Joe's!! The place is definitely a place to see and experience!! Service was horrible. It wasn't even busy. Took roughly 20 minutes to get a beer from a bar with 2 customers. Nit to mention they charged us 30 dollars for a margarita that was suppose to be strawberry but was orange and tasted like sweet water with orange slices in it. A margarita at Ruth Christ or Chop House doesnt even cost that, matter of fact, half that. And it actually tastes like what you ordered and comes to the table faster than a half hour. I wated 27 minutes for my first drink, had already eaten the appatizer. The second drink took roughly half an hour after ordering. The bartenders were more concerned with flirting with the guy at the bar and throwing fruit at each other than making drinks. We arrived at 7pm and didn't have food yet at 8:30. We ended up just leaving and going to McDonalds. This place use to be top notch. Don't know what happened, but probobly won't be returning. I NEVER go.oit of my way to leave a bad review. And am a totally easy going understanding guy. But this tops the worst experience in a LONG time. We got two appetizers 2 beers, a margarita and two soft drinks and the tab was Over 80.00. Money isn't an issue. We happily pay alot more daily for food. But this was absolutely terrible.

Ive visited Salty Joe's twice in the past week and will be back soon. The atmosphere is top notch. Whether you sit inside or outside, it's comfortable and interesting to look at. Service is at relatively good pace and the servers are friendly. Some pacing issues need to be addressed as our appetizer came out at the same time as our main entrees. However, i rather have food come to fast than too slowly! The food is good, but lacking depth of flavor. Out of all the meats, the ribs were deemed the best by our table, then the pulled pork, and lastly the brisket which was tough and bland. I personally enjoyed the queso as it was very mild. The chips are delicious as were the breadsticks that came to the table. Though they only brought breadsticks for our first visit so maybe that was a fluke? The build your own bowl options are nice. The mac and cheese with grilled chicken and avocado was my favorite. Live music on Friday was a nice touch. I definitely want to come back and try more food options from their extensive menu, but so far this has become my new favorite spot in the area for a beer and socializing!

Best Restaurant I’ve been to in Hammond so far. What is not to like about Very Good Food and Service! Nice atmosphere complete with a Live Band playing on the Patio. A Family friendly environment and surprisingly good prices for the highest quality food and service. Brynn was our server who knows how to provide great service. From the friendly greeting and introduction while taking our drink order, to making just the right amount of appearances to see if we needed anything. From looking around it seems all the young help were energetic, smiling and attentive to their guest. Kudos on the leadership for building a superior team. And by Team, I mean the whole crew from the gatekeepers to the cooks and everyone in between. I am only sorry I didn’t walk around and take pics of the patio and other rooms. But promise to during future trips. I spent about the same tonight as I did for the Pizza I ordered last night. But this was by far the better deal. As promised here are additional photos from my second trip. Once again the food and service (Kelsey) was exceptional!

We visited here while on a family trip to the area. The location is pretty good, I like that it's out of the hustle and bustle of Hammond, but close enough that you can easily stop in after shopping or doing activities. There is plenty of parking in the back, which was a little disguised and worried us at first. But we easily found a spot. The atmosphere is really nice. It was inviting and I enjoyed the decor. Service was also friendly. The food was hit or miss for us. For example, the fried pickles were the best we've ever had, but the boudin egg rolls weren't really boudin like at all. Growing up in New Orleans, this seemed more like dirty rice with pork egg rolls. The BBQ pork po-boy was good, whereas we paid approximately 20.00 for a plate of brisket that came with three dry slices. The rub was good, but overall the brisket was really lacking. The mac-n-cheese and BBQ pork burrito was just okay according to our son. The mac just wasn't macking. I think that we would come here again on a future trip to try different dishes. It's definitely a unique restaurant!
