If I had to stay in Hammond again, I wouldn’t stay here. We stayed for a soccer tournament. From the start, the hotel was underwhelming. Upon check in, the staff was just lukewarm with a greeting. We were told there was a breakfast buffet for $6.99 arranged for those attending the tournament. Since we arrived late with an early game the next morning, this seemed like an excellent plan. We used the ONE SLOW working elevator to go up to our room. Room was what you’d expect except it was not especially clean. There was hair in the bathroom, and the room itself looked pretty shabby. Between midnight and six in the morning I heard trains three times, and that was with us being on the third floor AND using a loud white noise machine. In the morning we went for that breakfast buffet. NOTHING was happening in the restaurant even though it was 6:40 and they were supposed to start breakfast at 6:30. An employee came to see if we needed help and she went to ask about the buffet. She said it was scheduled for 8 which wouldn’t have given us time to get to the field. She offered for us to order off the menu, but the feeling we got was that we’d be sitting there for a while, so we left and went to chick fil A instead. After a full day of soccer, we came back to the hotel to find that NO ELEVATORS were working. We then had the pleasure of going up three flights of stairs with our ice chest and other gear. We went down to the (super small) pool. A train passed and one of the dads thought a plane was crashing because it was so loud. The train tracks are basically behind the pool area. Since there was no housekeeping due to Covid, I took out our trash and found the cart to ask housekeeping for towels and shampoo which was treated as some sort of extravagant request. Check out day I went down for coffee. No coffee in the lobby, but she told me I could ask in the restaurant. Again, no one in the restaurant; it was basically a ghost town the whole time we were there. I went to the kitchen door and waved through the window. They did bring me a cup of coffee, and when I walked out my feet were sticking to the floor. Yuck. Did I mention no one was in the restaurant? So I’m guessing that sticky was from the previous day. Double yuck. Finally, at check out the staff was again just “meh.” I tried to turn in my keys, and she just shrugged in response. I asked if she wanted me to put the plastic keys in the disinfectant and again she just basically shrugged. If you’re working the front desk at a hotel, you have to be at least a little personable! Finally, as my last “experience” here I went to make a cup of coffee on the way out. This time they did have the coffee in the lobby with what I thought were the world’s smallest cups, but after I put sweetener in and went for a lid I was surprised to find that the lids were even smaller than the cups provided. I was so irritated that I just threw it away. We stayed here to be with the team, but next time I’ll take my money elsewhere. Location is the only plus with shopping and restaurants close by, so I’d recommend choosing a hotel close to this one, just...
Read moreOur first time staying at this hotel in this area.Overall appearance on outside of property seemed good. Upon check in we were greeted by Cody, very friendly Front Desk Agent, very helpful, very knowledgeable of the area. The hallways and elevators were dirty, not vacuumed all the way. Our bathroom had mildew all the way around the tub on the caulking. When I put the plug down on the tub drain and turned on the water, black mildew came out of the faucet, I pulled up the drain to drain it and the water bubbled up with someone else hair. Went down for breakfast in the morning, restaurant lights were on and several guest were sitting talking, as we proceeded in head waitress told the other worker to turn off the lights so that the guest would leave because they didn't open for another 5 minutes. My husband and I went to the coffee stand in the lobby to wait and it was completely empty and dirty. We asked the front desk clerk to help, he sent someone over but he didn't know where anything was or how to fill anything up with supplies. My husband and daughter went back for breakfast to eat the buffet that we had to pay extra for and it was completely empty after three minutes of restaurant opening and only 6 guest going through it. We asked for orange juice and was told it was extra, no fresh fruit, only canned pineapples, grits, eggs, sausage which we had to wait for, potatoes, always had to wait for coffee. Guest next to us ordered pancakes and waited over 25 minutes for it, no one else in the restaurant had ordered all were eating buffet, waitress told guest it took so long because the chef is new and they make the pancake mix from scratch and he was waiting for the yeast to rise in order to make the pancakes, REALLY??? Has your company not heard of GOLDEN MALT they sell waffle and pancake mix you just add water. Breakfast person was very rude and the helper she had looked new and didn't know what to do. Our overall experience at this hotel was so bad, that we checked out early and went to another hotel in the area. I would not recommend staying here if you are...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Hammond by IHG (often referred to as Holiday Inn Northshore), located at 1819 SW Railroad Avenue, Hammond, LA 70403
From the moment I arrived just off I‑12 and close to downtown’s historic district, I was impressed by how clean and well maintained the property felt.
The check‑in process was efficient, and the front desk staff immediately stood out for being courteous, professional, and very helpful (a common theme echoed in many guest reviews)
My guest room was spotless, with neat linens and a comfy bed. Amenities like a mini-fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and generous toiletries added a real extra layer of comfort and convenience.
On-site amenities were excellent: a refreshing outdoor pool, hot tub, and fire‑pit area; a 24/7 fitness center with treadmill, ellipticals, free weights, and all other essentials; plus free self‑parking and reliable high-speed Wi-Fi throughout.
Business services included a well-equipped center and around 3,000 sq ft of meeting and banquet space—ideal if you’re traveling for work or hosting a small event.
The location is also very convenient—minutes to Southeastern Louisiana University, North Oaks Medical Center, local shops, and restaurants. It scores highly on accessibility and location, with a lot of guests giving it top marks for proximity to local attractions and overall convenience.
In a few minor areas, breakfast timing could be more consistent, and one past reviewer mentioned rushed housekeeping when checked out late—I didn’t experience that myself, but something to note
The Holiday Inn Hammond blends comfort, convenience, and caring service. I’d gladly...
