First of all, the place has been just taken over by a former chef of 10 years from 5 Haphineses Chinese restaurant in New Orleans. This is basically a takeout establishment, though there are a few tables to eat on from take out boxes only. No waitresses. This is a family-run establishment, using the same recipes from the former owner, according to the new owner. There’s no A/C at present, and according to the daughter, whom works counter, it’s been broken for a year. She told me that the renters are liable for such repairs. Read moreSecond time trying this place. The egg rolls are BIG! We love them. They give large portions. The "Beef With Hot Garlic Sauce" was very good. However, the "Pork Lo Mein" we didn't like so much. The pork was dry and lacked flavor. The "Mandarin Chicken" looked good but the gravy was greenish in color and tasted so weird. It had a strong curry taste. If it wasn't for the fact I poured it all over my chicken I would have thrown that gravy away and pour Louisiana hot sauce over my chicken and made the best of it. I ate it anyway, all the while telling myself I was eating a new dish. A dish I will never order again. If you want great Mandarin Chicken, please try China Rose...
