Sicily's Ultimate Italian — Restaurant in Louisiana

Until today I've always thought of Sicily's as pretty mediocre. The staff has always been friendly and caring, but can be forgetful at times. It's an old building so the cleanliness is fairly borderline. Some of the seats leather is falling apart and the carpet is getting very dated and stained.

Usually I would say the fried chicken and fried okra are the best things about the buffet. The pizza selections are quite large but are just okay when they stay under the light for a while. Some of the more homestyle dishes are good comfort food, but don't really stand out. And the spaghetti bar is hit or miss some days.

Today, however, I decided to put in a special request for my little girl. A small mushroom and pepperoni pizza. I've never done the special request in all the years I've eaten there even though it is included in the buffet price, and I definitely regret it. It was the best pizza I've had in quite a while! When it comes out fresh, it's like a whole other restaurant made it. It was baked perfectly and had that slight chew you want in a pizza dough. The cheese pull was awesome, and the taste bordered on heavenly! I'm never going back to the buffet for pizza (except the chocolate chip pizza for dessert which i will never stop eating) I'm always going to do special orders from now on. It was so impressive...

Food was okay, the waitress was really nice. But it was dirty. The carpet looked as if it hadnt been vacuumed in 50 years. The bathrooms need to be fixed, the stall door swung too far out to latch and just hung there in a way that made it look like it was about to fall off. I don't know if it's the management or the owners but this place could be super great if it could be cleaned properly. The game selection is okay, there are like 8-10 arcade games and usually about 3 of them are out of order. The candy machine needs to be cleaned ASAP, it was mostly empty but the candy still left inside was dried up and looked as if it had been rolling around on the floorboard of a car. Thank goodness for customer service. Hailey was very attentive and her personality was awesome. We could see she was overwhelmed with customers and having to sing Happy Birthday for someone wasnt making it better( i know its her job).The food was really GREAT the FIRST visit it was hot, on the bar and plentiful. THIS time it was HORRIBLE. It was 5pm , the place was full. You had to wait for food to come up atleast 15 minutes intervals. When it did come up the customers were like vultures fighting over the last piece of meat. Too many workers standing up in the front. They could helped in the kitchen. Team work is the best work. We drove 1 hour and 45 minutes to come enjoy gumbo, fish and pizza. Totally...
