Sunday Brunch at the Bristol YUM
Carl GibsonCarl Gibson
Went here for the Father's Day brunch! Loved being greeted by live music when I came in, the saxophone player was a nice addition to the scenery. The food itself was fantastic and plentiful, really liked the cinnamony crispy fruity dish they had and the sausage links were delicious! Loved all the protein options, I had a fried chicken thigh, but the fish looked great too. The fruit table in the middle had some great pineapple and melon, and the dessert table was also packed with good stuff. The buffet line could have been organized a little better - the line started back where the waffles were, but the plates weren't until after the waffle station. It's awkward to reach between people in line to get a plate, then get back into the line to wait for the waffles if you want them. Also, the staff were constantly having to navigate between customers in line, requiring us to navigate with them in response. I don't fault the staff for that! But maybe just more clearly delineated signs and/or instructions and plate placement would improve the experience. The service was top-notch, our server kept our drinks filled and was very attentive, which was impressive given that she was also bartending! Definitely tip your servers well folks, they work very hard and do a great job. Great place to take the family for brunch! A little on the pricier end but worth it for a special occasion.

We arrived just as the Bristol opened (we like to eat early), so there wasn't a big crowd and lots of staff was available. We were greeted with a smile and eye contact, and seated right away. We had our pick of tables and chose one right by the window with the sun shining through. Our server was also smiling (a great sign) and answered our questions while getting our order. Drinks and appetizer were delivered very quickly. Loved the artichoke fritters. I'm a conch fritter fan, but really liked these - deep fried to perfection, the artichoke was moist and melted in my mouth once I crunched through the breading - tasted great, looked great. Our server took our orders and refilled our drinks. We got some fresh warm bread with our appetizers - I could have filled up on the bread, it was wonderful. I got a steak sandwich and my wife ordered the Linguine Giovanni; she really wanted chicken parmesan so they dressed it up and give her some extra parmesan cheese. Loved everything we ate. Especially impressed with how they accommodated my wife even though she wanted something that wasn't on the menu. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating, the restaurant is clean and well maintained. It is an older building and definitely has some character. A great place for drinks and dinner, we will be back!

We asked a local about hidden gems and this was #1 on their list! He said the chili spaghetti is his fave. I love the atmosphere when you walk in.. I did not get an appetizer this time, but I did get a bowl of their BLACK BEAN SOUP which was wonderful! Not too salty, with plenty of sausage bites topped with SOUR CREAM (i liked it in my beans, but for those of you that do not like it I want to warn you) & red onions. (bowl vs cup? the bowl has about 1.5xs what the cup has and is $1.50 more...I got the bowl, if I get a chance to go back I'd get a cup). My SO had the WHITE BEAN CHILI. I tried it and it was just as good as the one I had. Not spicy at all and full of flavor similar to a taco soup with shredded chicken. Our server forgot about our bread and butter with out soups, however she did remember to bring it before our meal. (basic bread rolls and butter nothing fancy but always nice to havw a roll to much on) I had the FISH TACOS and had them blackened. Not big on cole slaw, ( it was more like cabbage shreds ) but i was pleasantly surprised. The blackened fish has a little spice to it and the sweetness of the cabbage with the fresh sliced jalapeños was on point. jalapeños were moderately scattered so you could taste them but not feel like you couldn't take them off if you do not do spicy). They put the aioli sauce on the side so you can choose to have it or not. I tried it with and without and honestly like it without, but its not bad with it either (trust your own tastebuds!!!) My SO had the BRISTOL BURGER. Nothing to write home about, but in general it is GOOD. The most is what saves it. Nice thick Burger with good flavor. (yes I tried it!!!) Thei French Fries are REAL potato rounds. The taste great and I didnt mind letting my 17 month old try them as they were not super salty. I also had their signature OLD FASHIONED. For those of you that don't know what that is, basically is it buroborn & water with mulled cherries and a twist of flamed orange and a dash of bitter with sugar or agave.(they did NOT flame my orange, but it was still good, however the flamed orange really guve the drink a little something extra) DEFINITELY worth trying though. We did not get dessert this time. Their staff was wonderful and we didn't have to wait too long for anything to come out we went at about 630pm on MLK day. They weren't packed or slow just kind in the middle. They have Pepsi products. Prices for all budgets...the steak is $30 and fish tacos & burger were $11 and lots of options in between. I would HIGHLY recommend...

Since our establishment in 2021, we have taken great pride in patronizing local businesses, and documenting our experience on social media, showcasing the great service and food provided. During this time, we have never felt collectively compelled to give a negative review, until now. Our adverse experience came as a result of our encounter with Cindy, the General Manager. We visited this business to celebrate a member's pregnancy. We had received excellent service from our Server, Jordan. He was very attentive and courteous. Our group had the Sunday brunch buffet menu option. Towards the end of our meal, Cindy began coming over to our table. The first time she asked if we were satisfied with our food and if we needed anything else? Our party collectively responded that the food was fine and that we didn't need anything additional. The second time, within a span of 7 minutes, she came back and asked if she could gather plates. We obliged and she collected the plates that were complete. She then returned within another 7 minutes and asked if we could move to another table because a guest at a nearby table "that is deaf" complained about our volume. We had been there for a little over 1 hour, had a number of large gifts with us and this couple had just been seated. We were settled into our table. Instead of offering to move the two guests to one of the many empty spots at the front, Cindy asked us to move. As a result, we no longer felt welcome and immediately decided to leave. On our way out the door, we asked a member of the staff for the lady's name that came to our table and asked us to move, which we found out to be Cindy, the GM. We walked the gifts to our member's car, and Cindy came outside looking for us, approached us and said "Hi, I just want to let you all know my name, which is Cindy and I am the GM here." The level of arrogance she displayed added to the insulting way she treated our party on the inside. We believe that Cindy can benefit from managerial and sensitivity training, to ensure she is equipped with the proper tools to better handle such instances...

My wife and I visited Bristol on Bardstown road in Louisville on Saturday night (10/9). Our food and the service were absolutely amazing. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars, was the fact that another table ruined our evening. They were screaming at and berating their poor server, and a lady I assume was the manager like nothing I had ever seen before. I watched their poor server running inside and out, I'm assuming taking care of her other tables, as she should, all while wearing a cast on her foot (this caught my attention about her, as not many would be working like that with a cast). Not one time did I see that girl with empty hands. My wife and I originally wanted to sit outside, but was informed that the patio area was completely full at the time, so it's not a huge issue. They also had a large party on a raised part of the floor off to the side. My wife and I get our food (I had the crab cakes, she had sweet chili pasta) and it's nicely proportioned and tastes great. This is about the time that the commotion started, as the table in question has their food brought out not long after ours. I happen to look up and see what I can only refer to as "Queen Kong" point her large meaty finger and yell how others have gotten food before she has. My interest is now piqued. I watch the drama unfold as the server seems to apologize to them, (I say assume, because the guy with her highness yells at the server about "excuses"). This young lady showed so much grace and restraint, it's unbelievable. I maybe saw 2-3 other servers in the building that night and you could tell they were all under tremendous pressure. I'm not sure how the events ended, and quite frankly, it's none of my business. I just had to applaud the staff. In fact, I'm changing it to 5 stars. The food was excellent. The staff was excellent. I'm not going to remove a thing because someone else is a miserable human. Great job, Bristol staff. You've...
