We understand this is a new restaurant and there will be a few kinks to work out. That said, it was still a disappointing visit (especially for fans of Texas Roadhouse and Jagger’s).
We had a party of 12 + a high chair. For parties of more than 6, you have to call. Then you’re told to call 2 hours before arrival. The entire party needed to be there before seating, so we ended up waiting another 10 minutes for our tables. Better than a full wait, but still. There is no way to put tables together and we were split into back-to-back booths. One was on a platform; the other was not. This obviously limited socializing.
First impressions were not great -- it was LOUD and it was COLD. My husband even called ahead about the temperature so we’d dress appropriately and was told it was 70. Not so. We were freezing.
Many ordered drinks. We were told by our server that Bud Lite bottles are not available, only draft, which we do not care for.
After we ordered, we were told it would be 20-30 minutes for our meal. I appreciated that and understood. Again, it’s new and they were packed.
The appetizer arrived in a timely manner and the server kept up with drink orders.
The grilled shrimp tacos were tasty (and spicy), as was the fish dinner. Portions were large. The slaw, however had no dressing whatsoever. Terrible. The food was warm but not hot. At the other table, someone had to ask 4 times for honey mustard to go with chicken tenders.
A manager came by to check on us and we asked why Bud Lite bottles were not available, and she said they are. She wanted to show us in the menu, but it’s not stated — apparently everything that’s on draft is also in a bottle.
We told our server, to which she replied, “Yeah, I heard.” No one apologized or offered to bring us one.
Our bill was incorrect and included our friend’s appetizer, but we worked it out between us rather than waiting for it to be changed. We paid cash, tip included. The server took it and told us she’d be back with change, we told her there was no need. Instead of a simple thank you, she just said ok and walked off.
No one in our party tipped our usual amounts. Several of us are big tippers as former servers ourselves. 6-12 of us go out every week, but we won’t be returning. Too bad. We had high hopes based on experiences at the...
Read moreWent to Bubba’s 33 last Sunday (11 of us). My special needs son has food allergies, so I relayed them to Caylee (server). She checked with Mitch (the manager). She said all is okay. Within 30 min of leaving the restaurant, my son required immediate medical attention, covered in hives, vomiting and crying. When I reported the incident, Mitch said he would check the video footage and contact me. He never did. The next day the manager on duty said they failed my son miserably by giving him the food that did in fact cause my son’s serious, did I mention she ordered him a double order of this food because she knew in fact it would be safe? I spoke with another manager on Monday said she would send an email voucher to apologize on behalf of her restaurant …never did I receive anything but a call from a liability person.
I am so disappointed in how this company treats food allergies, the ramifications of what their negligence caused for my son a potentially life threatening reaction, vomiting, hives and a BIG AND PAINFUL shot AND my poor car covered in vomit. Never once did anyone call or ask if he was okay, can we refund his meal, can we clean the vomit out of your air vents…NOTHING!! There were 11 people in our party!
If you or your child have food allergies, you cannot depend on what the servers or managers tell you. The app for me to check myself was not working properly at the time, but hindsight is 20/20. They should have turned us away, which I would have done. You hurt my heart when you hurt my...
Read moreWe visited the Sunday after Derby. We were politely told it would be an hour and a half wait. This is nothing unusual or unexpected at a new restaurant in an expanding part of town, especially during Derby...lots of out of town license plates in the very spacious parking lot, so not reallya big deal, even though we tried to arrive between the church crowd and the dinner crowd. Since we had never been to a Bubbas 33 before, we really didn't know what to expect. It's a knock off of Hard Rock Cafe, but with many more menu options to choose from! I LOVED the local flair mixed in with the usual decor. They had plenty of staff, and I believe I counted 28 TV screens, one very large one of which showed 9 different screens at once and appeared to be able to show 16 at once. About every 4th screens played the music video corresponding to the music playing. It was loud (even outside speakers) but we were still able to carry on a conversation. Bradley waited on us and was very attentive and pleasant. He checked on us regularly, even before our food arrived because of how busy they were. The food was good. And another lady whom I assume was the manager also stopped by to make sure everything was satisfactory. The menu options were so extensive we plan to return and try other items. Another thing I noticed that gave Bubbas that Local Louisville Southern touch of friendliness was having workers hold open the inner doors greeting everyone who entered. Nice touch! Hopefully you will add more locations...
