I have been here years ago with my family when it hadnt fell off yet and the food was great. Sadly I cant say the same about the experience I had yesterday. I went here with my boyfriend because he had never tried it and we were originally going to try another burger place but there was a 45 min wait so we came here.
When we pulled up there were 2 people outside just standing around and when we got out of the car to go in they were staring at us. Nothing I didnt expect, the area around this restaurant can be sketchy. So we walked in. The lobby where you order is pretty cramped so we heard the cashier guy say that he doesnt have a lot of help to the people in front of us. There is 3 people in the back part where I assume they make the food and one of them was just kind of standing there not doing anything.
All the jobs I have ever worked have been customer service, I know theres always somebody like that, so I felt for him. I could tell this cashier is working hard and it didnt look like the guys in the back supposed to be making the food (at least one of the three) were working with him.
Anyway I was telling somebody else in this lobby area that I wish I could help. Now remember this as it is important for later. So the people in front of us get done and the cashier is also the one making the milkshakes so he makes their millshakes before he takes our order. Then he gets a doordash order and I assume it was for a large milkshake bc the cup was pretty big.
When he gets done with that he takes mine and my boyfriends order. We both ordered the wizzburger combo which has the burger with 2 pattys and comes with fries and a drink. We both got sweet tea for a drink, and I really wanted to try the milkshake so I ordered a large oreo milkshake. So we pay and sit down and wait for the order to be made.
While sitting down waiting for our order this guy comes in that was just walking back and forth staring at people and talking to himself. Another guy was just sitting there that I didnt have a good feeling about but I mean that was pretty much everybody in there. So the fact that there wasnt even one person dining in shows a lot.
So my millshake was ready and I didnt think anything of it at first then I noticed that I paid for a large and this milkshake that I got isnt as big as the large one he made for the doordash order earlier. So now I start second guessing myself because I know I literally watched him make the doordash milkshake before he took our order and it was visibly much bigger than the cup I had in my hand. Whatever. Maybe im crazy.
So our order is done and of course we arent going to eat it in there so we take it home. We both got sweet tea and we are frequent sweet tea drinkers (especially my boyfriend) so its easy to tell when tea is not good. Not only was the tea not at all sweet, it tasted stale. My boyfriend compared it to when you get sweet tea at speedway and you can taste that they havent cleaned the dispenser in forever.
Okay so I might have been ripped off for my milkshake and the sweet tea is bad. The large milkshake is like $2 more at most I can swallow that, and the bad tea is unfortunate but we have soda in the fridge we can drink and i have a millshake even if its not large its whatever.
So we both bite into our burgers at the same time, I ordered mine with just the pattys, cheese, lettuce and the “dizzy sauce.” My boyfriend ordered his normal. It was hard to tell whose was whose bc both seemed like they had pickles on them. So we bit into it. His had pickles and mine had pickles. I dont like pickles so thats another thing. Thats not the worst part though.
Besides the pickles, I thought the burger was fine, nothing spectacular but it wasnt bad. My boyfriend was scarfing his down bc he just eats fast anyway. So I take another bite of mine and I feel what I thought was a big piece of lettuce.
It was not a piece of lettuce. It was a piece of a styrofoam cup. There was a piece of styrofoam cup. In my burger.
This place is not what it used to be. It used to be 5...
Read moreThere's not a lot that upsets me when it comes to restaurants, diners, or fast food places. But Dizzy Whiz was highly recommended to me by my brother, so I was excited to try it since I just moved to the area. I had put in a curbside pickup order and it said the order would be ready around 3:45pm and to park under the awning, so I did. Even had to fill out my vehicle information when putting in the order. Anyway, I get there at about 2:50 because I had nothing else to do. So I waited patiently and was approached by a service lady, she asked if I was ready to order and I told her that I was here for a curbside pickup and she said "ok", and walked around to take other people's orders. So again, I wait very patiently and listen to music in my car. Well 3:15pm rolls around and so I continue to wait, they're pretty busy and I dont want to be rude and expect them to have my food ready on the dot.
3:30 rolls around and I am still waiting... the waitress lady comes out numerous times and makes direct eye contact with me each time she passes by to serve other customers. I continue to wait.
4:05pm and I start to get a little annoyed. I tried to be patient, its hot, they're busy and probably over worked.
Just as I am about to go inside ans ask about my order the lady comes back out and walks back up to my window and says the following, "What are you guys doing? Are you wanting to order anything because you've been here for a while now", with a very rude face and a bothered tone.
Let me tell you it took me every bone in my body to not look this lady in the windows of her soul and tell her, "Yeah, I wonder why? I have a pick up order that I told you about an hour ago.", except probably with swearing. So instead I reiterated to this woman that I was here for a pick up and showed her my email with the order number, name, car, etc. She went in and looked up the order in her system and within 5 minutes I finally had my food. When she came back out she leaned back down to the window and said "Next time you need to let me know you're here for an online pickup."
I said to her. OK. Thank you." And drove away.
There will not be a next time.
The food:
I drove over to the parking lot across the street to eat. Upon opening my bag, my order items were correct but the burgers ingredients were not. It was missing everything... and to add to the insult, the patties were about as thick as three quarters stacked together. It was more bread the burger. The soda tasted stale, the fries were bland. But cooked perfectly. The milkshake was milkshake. Its hard to mess up a milkshake.
Overall it was a pretty bad experience, and not worth the money. I will not be returning. This place lives in the memory of what...

Like a super old Druthers restaurant if you remember those products of the 80's and it should definitely be photographed if and when they close the doors for good. This place has some great liminal spaces feels. But I digress. And just as this review will probably be all over the place I suppose it's a fitting juxtaposition the Dizzy menu. Says this place looks like they should offer everything you can think of, The wiz just about does. And if you've ever worked in a restaurant kitchen, you know that a giant menu means the food quality can sometimes take a hit. Offering breakfast lunch and dinner and probably anything else if you catch the cook in a good mood, they actually do just about everything pretty well. The whizburger is tartar sauce on a cheeseburger. I would say just a classic bacon double cheeseburger with spicy fries, which you have to ask for to replace the subpar crinkly fries. This is a locals play and you will be rewarded as the spicy fries are similar to and perhaps even better than Rally's. Breakfast is actually the star of the restaurant and on just about any morning at least a couple of regulars are waiting on staff to open. Eggs any way you like them, bacon or sausage, grits if you just want something to stare at and the best value pancakes in Louisville are all recommended. It's like $3.50 for three dinner plate sized pancakes. Throw in some good old processed fake butter and I've officially made myself hungry. Fortunately, I live in Old Louisville so I'm close enough to take time to recommend the absolute best thing you can think of on the menu....'ye Old Soft Serve Machine! Chocolate, vanilla, of course the soft serve swirl, along with my personal favorite strawberry, banana and peanut butter and probably a few more places to get an actual milkshake circa 2023. Super reasonably priced with an array of sizes it's impossible to not return if only for one more shake. Three stars even feels a bit harsh, but as I said, it pays to stick with your menu favorites. There are a few trainwrecks here and there, but they hardly tarnish the positives. So enjoy the nostalgia on a nice fall evening.. or any season for that matter. And remember seasoned fries...
