I am very sad to have to write this review and I rarely write reviews. I am saddened because this place was one of mine and my wife's very favorite places to stay. We celebrated our 5th and 10th anniversaries here and absolutely fell in love with the place and the owners. I understand that the ownership has recently changed and may be in process of changing things, but our experience was not good. It was nothing like the amazing experiences and care we had on previous stays.|We arrived before our dinner at the Brown hotel to a locked door. I had texted the number to text a couple days before arriving to let them know how excited we were to come and celebrate our 20th anniversary, but I didn't know the owners had changed. I received no message back. When we arrived, we weren't sure how to get in and it was COLD!!! I called the number posted on the front door and they answered and asked if I had received a text with info on how to get in with the lock code. I had not seen it but after checking, I had received it. I was able to get in. Upon entering, it was a cold ambiance and dark, very few lights on. Not at all what we had experienced in the past. The B&B was still beautiful. They had some tea and cookies for guests when they arrived. But it was only "run of the mill" teas like Lipton and the room the tea and cookies were in was not lit.|We stayed in one of the rooms which was one of our favorites in the past. Let's just say it wasn't even close to what it use to be. Couch cushions in serious need of replacement or repair, fireplace door trim falling off so you couldn't even close the door, a random one-off picture barely hanging in an odd place, bathtub faucet handle missing, walls and ceilings in disrepair, dust/mold built up on all ceiling registers, only two towels provided, towel/linen closet in disarray and stuff everywhere, etc. This place needs some serious update, cleaning, and maintenance.|After returning from dinner, we were told we could park in the back and go through the back entrance so we did. The concrete is laid in such a way that when backing up, the bottom of our car scraped across it. The only way to not make that happen was to go at a diagonal angle. We unloaded our suitcases and wary of the ice we tried to go in the back entrance but it was locked and no way to enter. So back to the car and loading it back up and going back around to the front int he 15 degrees outside. A little frustrating.|Breakfast was okay, not what we had enjoyed in years past.|The heat was running like crazy, so at least we were not cold, but it was definitely hot at times.|After returning home, we realized we had left a straightening iron at the B&B. I have called and left messages, but no one either answers the phone or even returns the messages.|We are so sad to see this place go, it was one of our favorites and...
Read moreI am in total shock!! This is the first time ever, were I have stayed somewhere with such outstanding reviews to be highlighting the total opposite! Am I at the same place?! Is this the twightlight zone?! Out of nearly 70 reviews, not one person, nobody, zilch, nadda, have mentioned that you are right under the flight path of Louiseville International Airport!! And I mean so close to the airport that the planes are only a few hundred feet above you! As each plane, every 5 or 10 minutes, goes over, the noise is insane, items in the room rattle and the TV picture and sound flickers then pauses for 5 or 6 seconds! The last flight of the night passed over at 3.37am, then we were woken as they started again at 5.51am!! It's impossible to sleep during flights, so in all we got about 2 hours sleep!
How can there not be even one mention from anybody about this? Why hasn't even one person said "this place is amazing, but please just note, ITS RIGHT UNDER THE NOISY FLIGHT PATH!!" I've just read the whole website of the accommodation and not a single mention in there from the owners about it, not even a very final 'small print' comment saying "please take note that for anyone expecting a quiet night's sleep, we are directly under the flight path"!!
And this isn't the only issue!! We walked out from the premises around the park adjacent and around the local Victorian houses to find ourselves feeling extremely uncomfortable from the more than 20 - 25 drunks, druggies and crazies all around that we passed and/or came over to us to beg or just look us over! 8 of which were within 50 yards from the premises, in the park opposite. The only safe feeling we got was the continual driving around of police cars! In a 20 minute walk we saw 3 patrols pass by! What does that tell you?!
Taking away all of the above, which is pretty impossible to do, there are many lovely things about the owners and about this place that the other reviewers have mentioned already, but as we are so unbelievably shocked about the above, I just can't get the right emotions to write about them!
Definitely our worst stay we have experienced for many a year, definitely our worst accommodation on our US trip, and a place we...
Read moreMy husband and I were married in Louisville three days ago, and we decided a few months back that instead of honeymooning in a hotel, we would stay at a bed and breakfast. Being locals (that were a bit short of coin at the time), a honeymoon in our home town sounded just the ticket. With the help of my soon-to-be-mother-in-law, we booked at Central Park B&B, and enjoyed a three-night stay at the coziest place I think I have ever visited. Originally, we were booked for two nights, but we had such a great time, we asked to stay for a third night, to which Robert and Eva kindly obliged. The furniture is beautiful and museum-quality, the breakfasts were exquisite (and delicious, of course), and both of us had an enormous amount of trouble getting out of the absurdly comfortable beds (I had NO idea the mattresses would come with memory-foam-toppers--so yes, amazing beds, which I cannot complement enough). I will admit, one of my favorite things was being able to stay around Halloween, because the Halloween decor around the house was absolutely adorable. The entire house was so quiet most of the time, we had no idea until the second day that anyone else was actually staying there! At first, I was a bit nervous to sit at a large table with all the other collective guests, that being my first B&B and all, but everyone was very friendly, and they even gave us newly-weds some marriage advice. I suppressed a giggle at the other younger folks sitting at the single tables, because I was very tempted to yell "hey, come over here and join the group!" All-in-all, Robert and Eva (and Jackie, as well) were so welcoming and warm to us, and I can't wait to book again for our first anniversary next year. My only regret is that I was really interested in playing the piano in the common room for everyone, but I tend to let my shyness get the better of me sometimes. So if you are looking for a place to stay, please consider Central Park B&B--you will...
