I am not sure that I have enough adjectives for amazing in my vocabulary to really do the Hip Hop Sweet Shop justice. We got an assortment of things to have at a birthday dinner and every single one of them was A+. Big Poppa's Bannana Pudding - we ordered some with bananas and some without - hands down THE BEST I have ever had! For years I have been trying to recreate the Magnolia Bakery/NYC banana pudding but now I don't have to because it's just 'meh' compared to Big Poppa's. Flavor Flav Strawberry Banana Pudding was an absolute delight - we scraped every little bit out of the container. The Kid N' Play Strawberry Crunch Cheesecake Parfait had us all moaning, oooohing and aahing - just top tier Yum! U.N.I.T.Y Lemon Cupcakes were so good that I think I cried a little. Tha Carter Red Velvet has no competition for the best. My mouth is watering and I can't wait to go back - they have so many things on their menu to try that I think I will start alphabetically trying them all. Absolutely a Louisville Must...
Read moreI’ve seen this place a few times on FB but we’re never really in the area. After a long day at the Playport park we were looking to cool down with a cold treat and we realized how close we were. The storefront is real cute and welcoming from outside and there were several guys working on the grass and blowing leafs off the sidewalk. Immediately you could sense the pride and hard work that was put into everything. Everyone was super friendly and greeted us, even asking if we had been there before and if we needed help with the menu. There were a lot more options than we expected but we had a good idea of what we were looking for. The premium milkshakes are exactly like the photos and worth every penny. They’re more so a piece of art than just a milkshake. We enjoyed the table top games while we waited and the overall vibe of the shop was really cool. We’ll definitely be back to try more things especially after long days...
Read morei've been the biggest stan of this place for years and can't believe i've not left a review sooner!!
HHSS first started out as a food truck, which was outfitted to resemble a boombox and every sweet was given an artist name. i was in love. it was such an amazing concept that i couldn't NOT love it. a few years later they opened a store. when i tell you that this place was a shrine to hip hop, i'm not kidding. you could just tell the amount of curating and love that went into the collection for years. then, by no fault of their own, a fire destroyed everything. EVERYTHING was lost. they now have reopened in a new location and the sweets are even sweeter, especially knowing how hard they've worked to keep this dream alive. i've gotten numerous custom orders and they've turned out nothing...
