Honeydew at District 6 — Restaurant in Louisville

Decided to stop by Honeydew on my walk back from getting lunch at Bruegger's Bagels today since my usual trek to Smoothie King is a longer walk back to my office. Honeydew had a great atmosphere and is very modern and upbeat. I don't have a picture to share, but think blacked out industrial ceiling with white brick walls and a pink neon sign. Today I decided to go with their Berry Lemonade smoothie (see picture below). It took a minute to make, however using all natural, fresh ingredients in every drink is well worth the wait. The smoothie is very refreshing and tasty with a very fruity and creamy texture. The only downside I see is the expense of the items on the menu. One 16oz smoothie is $10 which is hard to justify to someone who would become a regular as Smoothie King just down the road has 32oz smoothies for around $9. There are differences in quality and overall healthiness of the smoothies for sure, so it is appealing to a slightly different market, however I think the price is just a bit too steep. Unfortunately, this place has gone downhill. I ordered two smoothies, the Pretty in Pink and another with apple, orange, mango, and pineapple. Well, first of all, the employee who attended me had no idea what went into the smoothies. Then, after waiting for about 5 minutes and seeing that both employees had no idea on how to make the smoothies, I asked what was taking so long, and they said they were waiting on someone to bring them the required ingredient of orange juice, and it would be about 10 minutes... REALLY ??? After waiting for about 20 minutes, they FINALLY had one smoothie ready, but they said they were still trying to make the other one. After waiting for 20 ridiculous minutes, I told them I had to leave and they didn't even offer me a refund for my smoothie, so I lost $12 to this place, and all they had to say was "sorry about that" in a very casual manner. ...

Y’all!!! I just found another great family owned restaurant that serves healthy food, and I’m super excited about it! I don’t have many healthy options close to work, and on the days I forget to pack lunch, like today 🙄, this was such a great find.

The space is fabulous, and Jane (seen in photo), who helped me on my first visit, was wonderful! She patiently answered all my questions about the food. The atmosphere was so fun and positive that I couldn’t help but smile while looking around.
