I first discovered La Patisserie Francaise after seeing some recent online drama, and it turned out to be such a delightful surprise! Chef Charlie is straightforward and unapologetic, which I find refreshing in a world full of facades. As a small business owner, he’s up at dawn baking delicious masterpieces for Louisvillians, and I truly appreciate his dedication.
I’ve visited a couple of times now, and each time I was warmly greeted by Chef Charlie himself. It’s clear he’s invested in his craft and his community. If you appreciate realness and authenticity, this place is for you. Not every small business owner will give you a “corporate smile,” but that’s not what I’m here for—I’m here for excellent pastries and honest, no-nonsense service. Personally, I received top-notch customer service both times I visited, but I've seen some neg reviews from others. Chef Charlie even took the time to chat with me about life; he told me an anecdote from his life about tattoos. I laughed heartily. It really picked up my mood, and I appreciated the risk he took telling me a slightly inappropriate, but absolute hilarious story. It’s those personal moments that make supporting local businesses so rewarding.
Small businesses like La Patisserie Francaise are still fighting for every paycheck, and it’s important to cut them some slack. The care, passion, and creativity Chef Charlie pours into his bakery truly shines, and I highly recommend stopping by to see what he’s whipping up with fresh ingredients.
I ate 1/4 of my delicious, soft (not trad french) baguette with butter and jambon for lunch, 1/2 made into garlic bread with spaghetti, 1/4 eaten plain with butter. I couldn't put it down. Super affordable, it was warm and bagged in paper.
Bonus: The bakery shirts are awesome, too—they capture Chef Charlie’s vibe and remind us all to enjoy life’s sweeter moments. I encourage everyone to support this local gem, and if you’ve had a great experience like I have, share it and...

My unsolicited opinion is there is nothing that cannot be described as absolutely delicious. We shall use the cinnamon roll as case study: you know how the average cinnamon roll, the exterior wraps of the roll are merely present, but don't really pull their weight, but you have to eat them to get to the good center part? Well, Charles, the owner, cinnamon rolls are delicious from the outside, and merely become more delicious as you eat towards the center.
I'm convinced the cheese danish could successfully be used as currency, if you found yourself without any money but had one of these cheese danish's.
The candy looks too good to eat, but if they are eaten, they do...
Read moreOne star because the staff was nice and very attentive. I’m a French Parisian and was so excited to find a little piece of home in Louisville but I was greatly disappointed. The pastries do not look anything like French pastries, the macarons had uncommon flavors definitely not the traditional French macarons, the apple pie had flan inside, the eclairs were dry and looked like they were made a day or two prior. An other thing I noticed is the mistakes in some French words used on the outside banner and the menu. It is not “Kougin-Amann”but “kouing- Amann” Not “buerre”but “beurre” Not “Croque-Monsour” but “Croque-Monsieur”
The atmosphere doesn’t feel French either. Will...
