Food really, really good! We spent $67 and had brisket, sausage, and chicken. Sides were garlic potatoes, coleslaw, baked beans, mac & cheese, and corn bread. Ordered a tea and coke as well. Giving 3 stars because it took over 35 minutes to get food! Took my husband there for Father's Day and not much of a crowd til we finished eating. Four servers asked us if we had food and took our name; but, never brought us our food which obviously was ready and sitting for over 20 minutes since it was cold when we got the food. One server in particular was not conscientious, older with a handkerchief over his face which kept falling down to his neck while he asked us our name several times. Three other servers asked us our name. We asked for silverware twice and plates and then a server took the plates and silverware to a couple who just sat down and had not even ordered yet. Then proceded to bring us the silverware which he touched the tops of the silverware with his glove that he used to pick up trash off of the ground. The server went back to the couple to get our plates and took them back to the kitchen and took his time bringing us plates. The plates were dirty and had food crumbs under the paper. We wore our masks and was being conscientious about cleanliness but the server didn't care when he talked to us without a mask covering or cleanliness of the dinnerware. We would have had a nice time if we did not have to worry if we would pick up a virus from the uncleanliness. The food was cold when we got it despite the fact we trusted the servers to bring us our food after asking us four times what our names were. It made for an unpleasant first time experience and probabably won't return just because of the server who wouldn't wear his mask while talking to us, the food was cold, over 35 minutes to wait for our food, and the uncleanliness. It really made our day unpleasant. The food was very good though. Just an awful experience with worrying that the COVID regulations was taken lightly with one server and the question why our food sat for so long with four servers offering to get our food for us but they did not get it when it was ready to be delivered to us. The servers should not have offered to get our food if they were not going to follow through with it. Just really an upsetting exsperience. I would have gave only 1 star but the food was really good despite the cold temperature of the food when we got it. We just cannot exclaim enough that the treatment we received from the servers really stole our day with discontent. Just don't offer to bring us our food if you don't plan to follow through with it. Don't talk to us without a secure mask. Don't give us dirty dishes. Quit interrupting us with questions of: Have we ordered and what is our name. Cold food, really? We would have liked hot food and attentive/clean service, that would have got...
Read moreWe showed up and were taken to a bar area and it was unclear what was going on. We didn't know if we were eating at a bar or waiting for a table, and no one had answers. We tried to order at the bar and the bartender seemed bewildered that we would want to order food. He was nervous there wasn't enough food (it was 6 or 7PM) and didn't want to take any orders. I can understand with BBQ it is hard to gauge the demand day to day; it seems a little weird to run out right at dinner time, but what really irked me was the fact that they kept taking people in. If you are out of food, stop seating people, or doing whatever happened to us where we were shown the bar but... maybe a table?? They seemed more interested in being a downtown bar than a sit down restaurant.
I was fixing to walk out until someone came by and showed us a table (there were open tables this entire time). We got the same, but different, improved, message on the food. Some is out but not all. We ordered 3 different meats; ribs, turkey, brisket, and it was over $35. It was enough for a single large person but given the cost, and that I'm annoyed at this point, we figured we would just split it. The ribs were great, I'm not really a turkey person but it tasted like turkey, and sadly the brisket was awful. Extremely dry and tough. I am used to at least a little bit of glisten of juice in brisket but this was dry. Their sauces were good, and I can see now why there was an emphasis on sauce. I left with the impression that they want to be a brewery or a bar, that might have, occasionally, subpar BBQ available. It may be easier to just become a bar and have a food...
Read moreThis place is fantastic! Don't actually know why I want to let the public know that or I might have to end up waiting longer for a table but based on tonight, I think the secret is out anyway. First of all, the place is adorable. Tons of outside seating, cute umbrellas over the tables, and outdoor activities like corn hole.
Walked in to get a table and the aroma almost did me in. I was like "Please bring me whatever I'm smelling and NOW....I don't even want to wait for a table. I'll eat whatever it is right here with my hands." It seriously smelled that good.
Seated outside with great views of downtown Louisville and our waitress was darling. So helpful and charming.
I ordered the 1/2 and 1/2 dinner: pulled pork and beef brisket. I'm a Kansas City transplant to Denver and therefore must tell you that I'm a BBQ snob. KC has spoiled me. But, even though it wasn't quite KC BBQ, it was still pretty damn good.
And the sides....they were to die for. Sweet potato tator tots. I'd go back just for these. And cinnamon butter cornbread. I do not need to say more....except you should definitely order this.
And for dessert, I had a cornbread sundae. Sounds weird, doesn't it? Well, it's not. It's a little slice of heaven...that's what it is. Cornbread topped with Sweet Cow vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce. IT. WAS. SO. GOOD.
Thank you Lulu's! ...
