This is one of my favorite places to go in Louisville - there are many, don’t get me wrong - it The Huckleberry is just one of those feel good restaurants that make you feel like you belong! The service staff are always smiling and friendly. Even though we had to wait for 15 minutes, it went by super quick...there’s lots to look at inside, from the cute curio cabinet with a variety of teapots to another area with local specialties like Honey Tea, Rose lotion, and other eclectic gift items. Before you knew it, our table was ready. The hostess led us down a couple of twists and turns and then sat us in a back room filled with Tiffany style pendant lamps and skylights with interesting art adorning the walls. The menu was brought over while glasses of water were filled. I ordered a skinny latte and enjoyed the massive Breakfast Burrito while my son had a fresh squeezed glass of Orange Juice and the Huevos Rancheros. We looked over the menu and decided that we have to come back and try out their lunch menu! After the delicious breakfast, this is a no-brainer! We sat for quite awhile enjoying our made-from-scratch breakfast. Our server Luke was quick to refill our coffee and very attentive to our needs. Thanks Luke! We are lucky to only live 10-15 minutes away, so it will be no problem stopping by for another visit....hopefully very soon!

I’m new to Denver so I decided to explore some of the surrounding areas. I went to downtown Louisville and was looking for a place to have lunch. I picked Huckleberry Cafe. I was told there was a 20 minute wait so I sat outside, when I was called in I was told there were only seats at the bar. The staff were initially very friendly. But, when I received my food I was grossed out by its appearance. I ordered the Mexican Scramlette. I realize there is an egg shortage going on, but my scramlette looked disgusting. It was a gray/greenish color and looked like it had almost no egg at all in it. It was also bland. When the waitress checked in on me I mentioned that the scramlette appeared to have almost no eggs. She said she’d see what she could do. Five minutes later the manager came up to me and abruptly said, “Do you need something?” I replied, “It’s ok, don’t worry about it.” She said, “Did you need some more egg or something?” I replied, “If it’s not a hassle, that would be great.” As she turned to leave I saw her roll her eyes at me. The waitresses ignored me the rest of the time I was there. The manager then brought me a very small portion of egg, put it on the bar and walked away without saying a word to me. I was kind and courteous the entire time but felt like I was treated like a pariah. I will not return to this establishment.

The location is great. The decor is great. The food is just ok. The service was sub par. I had breakfast and arrived at 7:40am. It was not busy but I was seated in a dining area all alone. The bartender was to be my waitress, but after waiting for thirteen minutes, I had to ask for assistance. I ordered the crab cake benedict with potatoes and an extra side of hollandaise sauce. I really wanted to enjoy the meal but it was not that good. The hollandaise sauce had no flavor, the potatoes were warm, but not hot. I was told this was a local favorite considering they are well known for their food and pastries. I was not inclined to order more after eating my meal. I would try this place again just because they have a variety of items but I would ensure I am seated in the general seating area so that the wait staff is aware of my presence. On another good note, they have a great selection of mixed drinks, cakes, pies, and other treats. The building is old, filled with eclectic art, and even had a cozy fireplace for groups.

Food was awesome and the menu is really comprehensive and unique but the service was....peculiar. The staff seemed inaccessible, we were seated indoors while I was mid-chatting with my partner whether we should sit inside or outside so we decided to ask for a seat outdoors when the server came by. When no one came to our table for a while we went to the hostess stand. There were people in line and hostess walked past us and the other people multiple times without acknowledging anyone waiting. I understand it was a little confusing that we were just seated and back at the stand but it felt weird that we weren’t acknowledged despite seeming over-staffed and having few diners. I think they may have forgotten to tell someone to clean off our new table because we were told to wait until it was cleaned off but we waited a while then decided to sit at the dirty table and the hostess immediately came out to clear it, although I’m sure she had hostess work to do inside and they had plenty of staff who probably could have helped her out. While eating, we weren’t checked on, which was only a problem because we were seated outside where staff didn’t frequent or walk past often, we were handed our bill really quickly which didn’t make us feel rushed but I was hoping to get another drink and had to ask them for it after our bill had been made up. Overall, it was good it just seemed off and possibly the staff was poorly trained or unsure what to do with that many staff and that few customers. I wish I didn’t have a bad experience here because it’s a lovely restaurant and good location with a cool menu and superb food. I do hope it was just an off day for people since it seemed strange to have such bad service and no other problems. Would recommend for someone looking for good food but doesn’t care about...

This was one of the most disappointing take out experiences I’ve had. The customer service was a joke. The food was misleading and mid at best. We walked in and the woman upfront was obviously irritated by something before I even spoke. I asked about my order and she said that she would “check on it” and walked away. After awhile she came back and completely ignored us. She never said anything about it. About 15 minutes of us waiting pass and we decided to ask again. At this point our food should’ve been beyond ready given the estimated time. When we asked again, she completely ignored us and kept her head down. She didn’t even acknowledge our presence. Luckily another guy was next to her and we asked him. Even he acted like this was a total inconvenience. He went to the bakery area we were waiting right next to and got it. When in the first place she could’ve just told us to ask the bakery staff, solving the whole problem. Thinking back, the girl never even checked for our order or the status in the first place because of the area she went to “check”. She could’ve at least told us to wait or that she would help in a little bit if she was that busy. I doubt she was though as I saw her staring into space most the time we were waiting. The food was cold at this point and had obviously been ready the entire time. Don’t order the stuffed french toast because it’s definitely not stuffed and the portions are smaller than the regular french toast. Overall super disappointing since it’s so popular and looked great. This woman should realize that she’s horrible at customer service and either work as a cook or quit. She shouldn’t work around people if she can’t even be nice. The tea/ bakery people were nice though...

I first want to say that I don’t ever leave reviews unless it is spectacular and over-the-top fantastic. I am a chef and have been in the food industry most all of my life. I love eating out, especially at new . This has been the first time that I have ever felt compelled to leave not only a review, but a bad one. I went into huckleberries and was impressed by the beautiful atmosphere looking forward to a quaint, good breakfast. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs what came out resembled a piece of beef jerky that had been breaded with curdled gravy and mealie sausage. It tasted as bad as it looked. I asked my server if that’s what it normally looked like knowing that that’s not what chicken fried steak gravy should look like and she said yes. I asked if I could maybe have some green chili to put on top of it thinking that I could at least alleviate the problem a little bit and she brought me out not chili Verde green chili but a tomatillo sauce. I ate one bite and could not stomach anything more. The flavor the texture, and everything about the meal was completely wrong. I went up to the server and handed her my credit card and she said oh do you need to close out? She never asked me any other questions and charged me the entire amount of the breakfast knowing that I didn’t eat anything. She didn’t apologize nor did she ask me if I wanted anything else or wanted to speak to someone else. Not only will I not go back, but I will tell everyone I know not to try it. It’s unfortunate because it could be the cutest little restaurant; at least it would be if it...
