Louisville Historical Museum — Attraction in Louisville

Visited this week and it was amazing. Wanted to find out more about local coal mining and the 1913-1914 strike. K. knew her topic extremely well and the visit was a real delight. Be sure to give yourself time to see the house next door that is part of the museum - how folks lived 100 years ago is amazing. The mining artifacts are well-preserved and informative. This historical museum is a great place to spend 20 minutes or 3 hours. The main building has several interesting exhibits about Louisville's history as a mining town. In my opinion the two remote buildings with the scale replica of Louisville and the (mostly) unchanged home from the early 1900s are well worth the time. Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteer gave us an extensive tour. The museum was all that I could expect. I just wish they had asked if we wanted a tour and how much time we had before starting. I had to cut things short a bit which I felt bad about but I just didn’t have time for the full tour....
