I got the Country Breakfast and the Short Rib eggs Benedict. Total was $45+ with a (good) coffee to drink. First things first, $16 for a dish smaller than an All Star special from Waffle House is outrageous, but, hey, you gotta make your money somewhere. Bacon was limp. You can taste that it had been sitting in a hot box just waiting (for what I would guess was an hour-plus) to be pulled and served, not crisped on a flat top or in an oven, just dropped onto the plate. The toast was good! Great preserves to go with it. Eggs were eggs. You get the picture. The bacon has got to shine on that plate and it surely does not. Short Ribs egg Benedict with an arugula side salad that (supposedly) came with a sweet herb vinegarette was the second dish and it was massively underwhelming. Let's start with the side salad. Not enough dressing, overly oily, not enough tomatoes or onions that come in it (2 cherry tomato halves, that makes one cherry tomato for those keeping count, and maybe 2 slivers of red onion) really just a complete waste of ingredients. The eggs Benedict would've been a massive dud, had it not been for the hashbrown puck used as a base for instead of the typical English muffin. They got massive points for that (I still wish they'd been salted after their time in a deep fryer, crunchy outside with a soft inside but bland). The menu says these short ribs were braised, but, if they were, then I beg the chefs to please reintroduce some of the braising liquids to the meat! It was so dry! Flavorless. The only thing on that Benedict that had any flavor was the sauce ladled over top. I only wish that there were more of it. This dish could've been could but the dryness of the short ribs and the overall lack of salt really hurt this experience. Overall the food was what I'd call a 5.1/10.
My server was Megan (sp?) and she did great. I never needed anything, she was on top of it. This poor showing had nothing to do with her. Restaurant was clean and had a nice vibe to it.
Ultimately, I will be back to try something else, but, for what I paid, it was hardly worth it. Somebody has got to want to try and make things taste how they're supposed to in the kitchen. It was clear to me how low-effort my meal was for them. Not great. Hope they can...
Read moreI came here for brunch with 4 other friends, and had a pretty mediocre experience. Starting with the few positives that came out of our experience, drinks were decent for the most part, and everything in the restaurant felt clean. As for the negatives though, they outweighed the positives for us. About half of our food was good and half of it was extremely underwhelming or not as described. One of my friends ordered the chicken and waffles, which consisted of one tiny waffle barely larger than the size of a child's hand, 3 unseasoned chicken tenders made of strange chicken, and a spicy honey that was not spicy at all. For the almost $20 price point, the meal was not satisfactory at all. Another one of my friends ordered the smoked salmon sandwich, which wasn't bad for the most part except for the egg. My friend inquired about how cooked the over-medium eggs were, and they were described by our server as having the whites fully cooked. When she bit into the sandwich though, the egg whites were barely cooked, and the whites an oozed out of the sandwich. Again, it was an okay sandwich according to my friend, but she wasn't satisfied with the fact that her eggs didn't come as described.
The cherry on top of the cake was our server though. She was attentive and engaging before and while we ate. After we paid though, one of my friends got up to use the bathroom and overheard our server complaining to another server about the tips we gave her (although we all gave 15-20% tips on our pricey bills), and then proceeding to call us a table of "dumb kids." As a person who is also an employee at a restaurant and has gone through extensive service training, this is a completely unacceptable attitude to have towards customers, and allowed us to come to the conclusion that we didn't want to return to this restaurant since our server clearly didn't respect our presence.
We unfortunately will not be back until food quality is improved, prices reflect the food quality, and most importantly, the servers are kinder to their guests and actually make coming to the restaurant a high quality and...
Read moreGreeted at our reservation time, temperature taken then seated at our socially distant, plexiglass bordered booth. All the staff wore masks, surprise. We passed a small display case containing pastries, soups and salads available for take out. The space is bright and welcoming. Local Louisville photos adorn the walls. The bar has a great herringbone patterned wood accent wall and room divider. The wooden floor has a light stain which adds to the brightness. Seasonal music quietly played in the background. Our waitress, Sarah, greeted us and took our drink selections. My wife had a cappuccino and I had coffee. Both were tasty. We wanted to start with a taste of the large (jumbo) cinnamon bun with cream cheese topping, large and delicious. The menu offered an interesting and varied selection. For breakfast i enjoyed the egg scramble with chorizo, cheese and spinach. It was topped with avocado and pico. It came with breakfast potatoes cakes which were nicely browned (skillet to deep fryer). The serving was large, hot and delicious. My wife enjoyed the country breakfast with eggs over medium, candied bacon, breakfast potato cakes and a homemade biscuit. The eggs were the perfect temp. The bacon was amazing and the biscuit was flaky. We are already planning our next visit, sadly maybe tomorrow. The blueberry muffin looks incredible and is on my next hit list. The breakfast sandwhich is also looking very appealing. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The service was prompt, 2020 safe with hot coffee and food. Let's all get out and support this New restaurant that is brave enough to open and serve us in this crazy Covid season. Well done Chef Geoffrey Heyde for another great Fork on the road (Frankfort). Thank you, MF ( Morning Fork of course ). Very highly...
